"ICE!"
As discussed in another thread somewhere, I'll always remember him from The Saint with Elisabeth Shue.
Probably the most underrated Batman actor. Batman Forever was silly but he and Jim Carrey were the best parts of it.

I'd argue the soundtrack was the best part. U2, PJ Harvey, Brandy, Seal, Massive Attack, Mazzy Star, The Offspring, Method Man, Flaming Lips. Solid, solid lineup.
Batman Forever is leading the thread title? The man had too many notable roles to be done dirty like that.
My wife is in mourning.
Also played Jim Morrison...a role that annihilated the aura which surrounded The Doors' frontman's career.

One of those cases where the soundtrack is better than the movie.

Should've had him "Skeet Surfing".
So now we have two former Batmen on the other side...at least (with the only other man with that role I know to have passed being Adam West from the 60s TV series).

I'll gladly take Top Secret! any day over Batman Forever.
I was really glad to see Val reprise his 'Ice' character in Top Gun Maverick; that was a touching moment. Also liked his star role in Batman Forever.
I'll always remember his two most memorable movie quotes:
"You're everyone's problem. That's because everytime you're in the air, you're unsafe. I don't like you because you're dangerous." -- (original) Top Gun
Then in a complete contrasting opinion:
"The Navy needs Maverick; the kid needs Maverick. That's why I fought for you; that's why you're still here." -- Top Gun Maverick
RIP.
Here is one of Val Kilmer's earliest roles in Real Genius.

I would argue that his most favorite movie quote is, "I'm your huckleberry," from Tombstone.

The lack of Tombstone quotes in this threading is disturbing. It is almost as though we are too high strung...

I think the disturbing part of this thread is that it seems like a chunk of the people posting haven't actually seen his good movies. :) Not a single mention yet of The Doors either. Tsk tsk.

I've seen news outlets mention The Doors. I haven't seen anyone mention he was a supporting actor in Heat.
He was incredible in The Doors. I seem to remember reading he even did his own singing (no lip sync). If so, he was a dead ringer for Jim Morrison in nearly every respect. Shame about the script.

Not to mention Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, True Romance, and Willow.

That reminds me that I need to show True Romance to my wife. The only movies she's seen involving Quentin Tarantino were Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained.

KKBB is my favourite Kilmer movie. He was tart, irascible and efficient. Robert Downey Jr was amusing, but Kilmer made his role.

I loved "Top Secret"! This is NOT Mel Torme!

See post #6.
But...I've never seen Tombstone.

It's too early for error messages.

Kevin Conroy, who we lost in 2022, was the voice of Batman in animation for over 25 years and many consider him the best Batman regardless of live-action or animated.
