Title: 2013 NASCAR Fantasy League
Post by: Alex on January 29, 2013, 10:05:12 PM
Is anyone interested in participating in a NASCAR fantasy league? Was thinking of setting up a group for the upcoming season. There would be three of us to start and anyone on the forum is welcome to join.

The day they go clockwise is the day I'll join.

I'll join the day they move out of all those boring tracks.

No, I join now. But first I have to find the schedule.

FTFY, and for all who don't use smartphones (Interesting, Firefox opened the mobile version anyways)

No one? NASCAR is due to launch next week. Maybe if the rules were explained... I have a big issue, though, and it's time. I'm six hours ahead of Eastern time for most of the year (Except 4-5 weeks, during all the lenght of March and around Halloween), so some races will be in the middle of the night for me, like this post for yours, which is made at 5:15 a.m. ET (11:15 a.m. CET, Central European Time)

Are you doing this on nascar.com or yahoo or some other site?

We are actually doing this on ESPN (ESPN Stock Car Challenge). Click on this link (http://games.espn.go.com/stock-car-challenge/2013/en/game) to go to the website.

The rules are pretty simple. First, make sure you have created an ESPN account (if you don't already have one). It's easy and free to join. All you need to do is provide an email address, name, and date of birth. You will also have to come up with a user name and create a password.

Once the form is complete, click finish. It should return you to the ESPN Stock Car Challenge home page and you should see your user name display under the Game Home tab.

Next, click on the Get Started button on the link provided above. Create an Entry Name (this will be your display name for your driver selections each week and can be anything you want), then click the Create Your Entry >> button.

Now you will select five drivers (who's total cost equals 100.0 points or less) from the roster below. There are a total of 69 drivers to choose from, and drivers can be switched out each week as long as your total salary is 100.0 or less. Once you select your drivers, click on the Save Roster button above your driver entries. You will be prompted to confirm your drivers. Click Save Roster (and check the "Do not ask me to confirm my roster again" if you so choose).

Next you will be asked to join a group. Click on the "Don't see your group you're looking for?" link under the Join a Group section. This will take you to the Create or Join Groups page. Under the All Groups section, type in AARoads and click the Search Groups button. The AARoads group link will appear under the search box. Click on the AARoads group link and it will take you to the AARoads group home page, showing current members. Since this is a private group, you will be required to enter in a password to become a member.

The password to enter is: 9887

Click the Join Group button. The page should refresh and you should see your display name (entry) and owner name under the Group Results list.

Those are the steps to joining the AARoads NASCAR fantasy team! If anybody has any issues with joining (those who wish to participate) please let me know I'll assist any way I can.

I can also send invites out to those who are interested. Just send a PM to me with the email address where you would like the invite to be sent.

And for the official breakdown on how to play the Stock Car Challenge, click here (http://games.espn.go.com/stock-car-challenge/2013/en/story?pageName=stockcar%5Chowtoplay).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are some tidbits to remember for each week:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

For CNGL - Leudimin: As long as you make your driver choices before the actual race day, you will be fine. I hope all this helps!

OK, I entered now. I'm adjusting schedule to CET (CEST from March 31st to October 27th) and for me all races are in Sunday, even those scheduled on Saturday (They mostly start at 1:30 a.m. CET/CEST!)

After the first round @ Daytona FL, here are the standings.

1. 6018555 (flaroads), 145 points
2. jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 95 pts
3. Leudimin (Me ), 92 pts
4. AAroads (Alex), 84 pts
5. on_wisconsin33 (on_wisconsin), 75 pts
6. jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 65 pts

Next round is Sunday @ Avondale AZ. I know your guys are going into savings time (Except, what a coincidence, Arizona!) that day, so the time gap I have with ET wil be reduced to only 5 hours... until Easter.
Title: Re: 2013 NASCAR Fantasy League
Post by: FLRoads on February 26, 2013, 09:18:43 PM
Actually, 6018555 would be me... I chose those numbers for my profile when I joined ESPN for last seasons Fantasy League. By the way, jlyben9174 is really Alex's better half!

I only did well because I had three of my drivers in the top ten (Johnson, D. Patrick, and Bowyer). I also had Harvick but he was out in that first wreck, and Gordon finished 19th.

Speaking of which, what are your thoughts on these new Gen 6 cars they are racing?? I personally think they need to go back to their previous cars (Car of Tomorrow) since they do not tear apart upon impact. I'm really not a fan of this new design. It's like the cars are made out of tin foil now...

After the race @ Avondale AZ, here are the current standings. Still have to identify one of ours...

1. (1.) 6018555 (flaroads), 313 points (+168)
2. (3.) Leudimin (Me ), 261 pts (+169) (Runner-up)
3. (5.) on_wisconsin33 (on_wisconsin), 241 pts (+166)
4. (2.) jcm9472 (mefailenglish), 237 pts (+142) (He should have scored one point more :sombrero:)
5. (4.) AARoads (Alex), 229 pts (+139)
6. (6.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 206 pts (+141)

After the fail we had last week @ Daytona FL (Only flaroads scored above 100 points), we all managed to get a 3 digit number of points, with three of us getting over 150 points. I had a less valued team than flaroads' one, yet I managed to get one point more :-P.

Next race is next Sunday 3:00 p.m. ET/8:00 p.mm. CET @ Las Vegas NV. I thought DST came into force yesterday, but it will do so on March 10th :banghead:. Here it wouldn't happen until March 31st.

I am AARoads, jlyben9174 is my wife. As you saw, we both bombed out pretty badly this race. After the miserable finish my drivers had at Daytona, I had to pick on a whim for the Phoenix race and while I had no DNF's, I had two drivers finish well outside the top 20.

Have to give it to Denny Hamlin for making that last second run to overtake Brad K and nearly Jimmie Johnson. Overall it was kind of a flat race, with Carl Edwards in cruise control for 50+ laps at the end. At least Mark Martin was able to do that during the first third of the face. Got to hand it to the old man!

Sorry if I had confused you in my earlier post(s) about who was who, CNGL-Leudimin. It was not my intention.

Qualifying was rained out today for the first time in this tracks history, so I am thinking it might be a little interesting seeing who stays out or near the front on Sunday. And I have to wonder how Hamlin is going to do after all the attention he has gotten the past couple of days over his remarks about the new stock cars. I've been waiting for a driver to speak up, but I admit I wasn't anticipating it happening this soon in the season. Glad to see he is sticking to his guns though. I have a feeling more drivers would like to speak up about these Gen-6 cars, but do not want to for fear of retribution from NASCAR.

Anyway, good luck to everyone on Sunday!

The race @ Las Vegas NV is over, so here are the standings.

1. (1.) 6018555 (flaroads), 445 points (+132)
2. (2.) Leudimin (Me ), 415 pts (+154)
3. (6.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 385 pts (+179) (Runner-up)
4. (3.) on_wisconsin33 (on_wisconsin), 384 pts (+143)
5. (4.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 377 pts (+140)
6. (5.) AAroads (Alex), 369 pts (+146)

Good choice that of Alex's wife, she has got two racers on the podium! And I suggest to on_wisconsin to drop AJ Allmendinger from his roster, as the latter has not run today and therefore he has lost around 25-30 points. As for me, beware flaroads, I'm approaching you :sombrero:.

Next Sunday NASCAR moves to Bristol TN. Race will start at 1 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CET.

Oh I know! Well, if Bowyer hadn't fallen back so far at the beginning of the race I would have done better. I, too, will have to make a change to my roster as one of my usual drivers will not be racing at Bristol. I am hoping that this Sunday will be more exciting than these last two Sundays.

@ route56, welcome to the fantasy league! And don't worry about being three races behind, there is still plenty of racing left to catch up!

And from the other 4, 3 were out, and only Dale Earnhardt Jr went high. So I dropped to last place, including route56's adjustment X-(. Here are the standings.

1. (1.) 6018555 (flaroads), 603 points (+158)
2. (5.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 548 pts (+171) (Runner-up)
3. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 540 pts (+171) (Runner-up)
4. (-) kshighways (route56), 509 pts (+140)*
5. (3.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 502 pts (+117)
6. (4.) on_wisconsin33 (on_wisconsin), 501 pts (+117)
7. (2.) Leudimin (I don't want to be here :banghead:), 481 pts (+66)

*Entered in round 4, lowest score up to there assigned.

I made a major bungle after Daytona (note to self:  READ THE RULES) and messed up my salary cap.  I've played salary cap games where, when people go down in value, you can "re-sign" them to their new lower value, and use the extra money to sign a better driver.  This one is different.  Plus, thanks to a family emergency, I was unable to make any moves for Phoenix.  (However, I did get to clinch large segments of US 17, 1, 301, and 601, and most of the pieces of I-73 and 74.)

A nice week at Bristol has made up for my earlier bungle.

BTW, if by "handball" you mean what they call "team handball" in the Olympics, it's one of my favorite* sports to watch in the Olympics.  I think I streamed most of the matches over the internet last year.

*Please pardon the "American English" spelling.   :sombrero:

Next Sunday is at Fontana CA. S***, Pacific time, normally 9 hours behind me (Due to DST already in force in the US and not yet in Europe time offset is currently 8 hours). Anyway, I've fired Mark Martin from my grid.

@mefailenglish: Yes, I mean team handball. Spain is current world champion at that sport. And I have to remember to write "favorite", and not the British form "favourite", next time because this is an American forum. BTW, I still mess up "center" and "centre".

QuoteAnd I have to remember to write "favorite", and not the British form "favourite", next time because this is an American forum. BTW, I still mess up "center" and "centre".

I actually prefer "centre" to "center", Just as I always like to see "theatre" instead of "theater". So you will not see me complaining about the spelling. I am probably in the minority to like the British counterparts over the American ones though.

I like the British spellings too, especially Centre.  Probably because of many great evenings spent watching Dale Hunter and Peter Bondra at the ol' Capital Centre.  Yes, it was spelled Centre even though it was in Maryland.  Plus, I watch a lot of British game shows on YouTube (QI, The Chase, Only Connect, Countdown) so I'm quite used to the "other" spellings.

Well Logano ended any chance I had of salvaging something today when he shoved the #11, leading to his horrible crash. Three of my drivers were out, leaving me with a very poor showing today. Time to reshuffle the deck. Hopefully Hamlin is OK...
Title: Re: 2013 NASCAR Fantasy League

Congrats on your win Leudimin! I see my lead is getting smaller and smaller...time to put it in gear.  :)

My day went from bad to worse with something ailing two of my drivers so I am not surprised on where I finished.

Man I was on the edge of my seat watching those final few laps. I had a feeling Kyle Busch was lurking back there while Logano and Hamlin battled it out, and sure enough he was. I was not, however, expecting the finish Hamlin got though. And for Logano to say "that is what he gets" in reference to Hamlin hitting the wall certainly does not show a lot of maturity or respect for your fellow race car driver, let alone your own teammate.

Hopefully Hamlin will be okay and will not miss Martinsville. At least he will have an extra week to recuperate.

YES!!! After the crash I had in Bristol TN, I've got a ton of points in Fontana CA! 172, outscoring by 1 the previous record of mefailenglish and Alex (Nice crash that of Alex BTW) Here is the updated ranking:
1. (1.) 6018555 (flaroads), 723 points (+120)
2. (2.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 705 pts (+157)
3. (6.) on_wisconsin33 (on_wisconsin), 661 pts (+160)
4. (5.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 658 pts (+156)
5. (7.) Leudimin (Me ), 653 pts (+172) (Runner-up)
6. (3.) AARoads (Alex), 634 pts (+94)
6. (4.) kshighways (route56), 634 pts (+125)*

*Entered in round 4, lowest score up to there assigned.

This Sunday is Easter, so Nascar is resting. Meanwhile Europe will go to DST that day. Next race is at Martinsville VA on April 7th, at 1:00 p.m. EDT/7:00 p.m. CEST. Will Nascar drivers give me 200+ points as birthday gift? We'll see!

A random, impulsive from-the-hip fact: Currently I have 653 points. Those numbers on a cell phone make up MLD, the disease after which I got one of my nicknames (And the one currently I'm using on Twitter among other sites). The tricky thing, it is made up after the Spanish name, if made after the English one the "min" part would have been before "leudi" or "leudy".

Heard on Sirius XM that Denny Hamlin broke his back. From ESPN (http://espn.go.com/racing/nascar/cup/story/_/id/9096962/denny-hamlin-lower-back-compression-fracture):

QuoteSprint Cup driver Denny Hamlin suffered a compression fracture of his lower back in Sunday's last-lap crash involving former Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Joey Logano at Auto Club Speedway.

Hamlin spent the night at a local hospital in the Fontana, Calif., area and was expected to be released on Monday to fly home to Charlotte, where Dr. Jerry Petty of Carolina Neurosurgery and Spine Associates will evaluate him later in the week.

I'm watching the Hamlin crash or how Alex lost 25 points in a shot on YouTube now. If I hadn't dropped Earnhardt Jr from my roster, I would have scored 182 points instead of 172 and I would have returned to 3rd place :banghead:

Two weeks ago I made a mistake: I said I had the record to the most points earned in a single race. Actually I had overlooked the 179 points Alex's wife got in Las Vegas. Anyway, it has been beaten on the just finished race @ Martinsville VA, as it is shown below.

1. (1.) 601855 (flaroads), 905 points (+182) (Is allowed to give a "runner-up" for the leader? :sombrero:)
2. (2.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 880 pts (+175)
3. (4.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 805 pts (+147)
4. (5.) Leudimin (Me ), 790 pts (+137)
5. (6.) kshighways (route56), 777 pts (+143)*
6. (3.) on_wisconsin33 (on_wisconsin), 774 pts (+113)
7. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 764 pts (+130)

Next week is the first night race @ Fort Worth TX. I get confused about the date, it states that will be on April 13th but after applying the time offset it results they race on April 14th on my time zone. And it will really into the middle of the night for me (1:30 a.m.!!! GMT+2)

In any case, the race is indeed Saturday evening, local time (UTC - 5)

I've made some tweaks to the ranking. And I've already made my roster changes for next weekend :-P.

route56: If you want to put UTC instead of GMT, you have also to remove the a.m. string, since UTC is a 24 hour clock while GMT is a 12 hour one.

And after 7 rounds, finally there is a change in the top of scoreboard! mefailenglish has scored a whooping 197 points last night @ Fort Worth TX and has run past flaroads! I was expecting to take leadership earlier when I had that horrible day in Bristol TN... Anyways, the board.

1. (2.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 1,077 points (+197) (Runner-up)
2. (1.) 6018555 (flaroads), 1,061 pts (+156)
3. (3.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 985 pts (+180)
4. (5.) kshighways (route56), 943 pts (+166)
5. (4.) Leudimin (Me ), 924 pts (+134)
6. (7.) AARoads (Alex), 879 pts (+115)
7. (6.) on_wisconsin33 (on_wisconsin), 874 pts (+100)

My drivers are radioing in, reporting a vibration.  That can't be good.

Seriously though, I see Talladega coming up soon.  That's basically like a pull at the slot machine.  Anyone could be in the lead after that race.

That is quite true. Talladega is always a wildcard because you never know who is going to be involved in the big one. And given these new Gen6 cars and the ending in last October's race, I can only imagine how its going to end...

Talladega will be Race 10 in the first segment by the way.

S**t, once again I scored so low. I'll try to come up with a better team for next week. Scoreboard, no changes this week.

1. (1.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 1,227 points (+150)
2. (2.) 6018555 (flaroads), 1,202 pts (+141)
3. (3.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 1,161 pts (+176) (Runner-up)
4. (4.) kshighways (route56), 1,095 pts (+152)*
5. (5.) Leudimin (me ), 1,030 pts (+106)
6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 1,027 pts (+148)
7. (7.) on_wisconsin33 (on_wisconsin), 1,016 pts (+142)

Next week, back to night and a bad schedule for me (April 28 1:30 a.m. CEST) @ Richmond VA. Perhaps I have to copy the team that chose Alex's wife...

I was wondering that myself but Matt Kenseth still has 48 points for Kansas, so I doubt they factor penalties into the equation. Brad K., Joey Logano, Matt Kenseth, and even throw in Denny Hamlin for his comments about the Gen6 cars...NASCAR officials have been busy lately...

And another question. Shouldn't a owner's license suspension mean that the car should be parked. (rather than simply be ineligible for owner's points)

Well, at least I have perfomed better than last weeks. But I'm only one point ahead the red light of the group, so... Anyway, the scoreboard.

1. (1.) jgm9572 (mefailenglish), 1,379 points (+152)
2. (2.) 6018555 (flaroads), 1,334 pts (+132)
3. (3.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 1,315 pts (+154)
4. (4.) kshighways (route56), 1,244 pts (+149)*
5. (5.) Leudimin (Me ), 1,179 pts (+149)
5. (7.) on_wisconsin33 (on_wisconsin), 1,179 pts (+163) (Runner-up)
7. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 1,178 pts (+151)

*Entered in round 4, lowest score up to there assigned.

Next round, again at better schedule for me, is at Talladega AL. As said two weeks ago, things could mess up in this race, so I'm thinking of keeping this great team (I'd have scored in the 180s if Mark Martin had not retired). Especially now that my usual computer has crashed and I had to borrow this laptop from where I'm writing, apparently I can't login to ESPN.

Three DNF's before even the mid point of the race. Had to shift my team at the last minute due to the Vickers/Hamlin dual setup; turned out to be bad all around for me. Rain showers are spiraling in from an ULL, so there is a good chance it will end prematurely.

Sorry about the delay, I forgot to come here yesterday. What a fail I had, it's time to reshuffle for the last race of the segment. Alex's 51 points is the worst score so far, and flaroads becomes again the leader. The scoreboard:

1. (2.) 6018555 (flaroads), 1,485 points (+151)
2. (3.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 1,476 pts (+161) (Runner-up)
3. (1.) jgm9572 (mefailenglish), 1,468 pts (+89)
4. (4.) kshighways (route56), 1,368 pts (+124)*
5. (6.) on_wisconsin33 (on_wisconsin), 1,289 pts (+110)
6. (5.) Leudimin (Me ), 1,270 pts (+91)
7. (7.) AARoads (Alex), 1,229 pts (+51)

*Entered in round 4, lowest score up to there assigned.

Now I'm trying to log into ESPN to make any changes, but I keep hitting the sign in button and nothing happens :banghead:. I'm in Google Chrome, FYI.

Well, as far as the low scores, that is just part of the game. Its always so unpredictable on what the drivers do every week, or what happens with their cars. I am sure my lead will be short lived though, as I feel two people breathing down my neck. Heck, maybe I will try for the new lowest score in a future race...hehe

6. (5.) on_wisconsin33 (on_wisconsin), 1,436 pts (+147)

Hey, don't steal my scoreboard! :-D. I know, I forgot it, but still, I have to repost. We have Alex's wife as the surprise winner of the 1st segment! And I've made a good choice by including that Colombian, ex-Formula One driver Juan Pablo Montoya, as he finished 8th while Mark Martin finished 25th. The final scoreboard of segment 1:

1. (2.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 1,657 pts (+181)
2. (1.) 6018555 (flaroads), 1,648 points (+163)
3. (3.) jgm9572 (mefailenglish), 1,624 pts (+156)
4. (4.) kshighways (route56), 1,527pts (+159)*
5. (6.) Leudimin (Me ), 1,454 pts (+184) (Runner-up)
6. (5.) on_wisconsin33 (on_wisconsin), 1,436 pts (+147)
7. (7.) AARoads (Alex), 1,339 pts (+110)

*Entered in round 4, lowest score up to there assigned.

From now I will post two scoreboards. One with segment results (Which resets to zero), and another with overall results. See you all @ Concord NC in a couple weeks! (Again, bad schedule for me :banghead:)

I believe he has forgotten this league after the first round, as he did not switch any drivers at all. Due to this, I'm dropping on_wisconsin from the scoreboards. As for me, I had a fairly good start of segment 2 despite Kyle Busch getting out thanks to Harvick's win. Anyway, the segment scoreboard:

1. jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 166 points
2. AARoads (Alex), 144 pts
3. Leudimin (Me ), 141 pts
4. jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 140 pts
5. 6018555 (flaroads), 133 pts
6. kshighways (route56), 101 pts

And the overall:
1. (1.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 1,823 points (+166) (Runner-up? Is allowed?)
2. (2.) 6018555 (flaroads), 1,781 pts (+133)
3. (3.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 1,761 pts (+140)
4. (4.) kshighways (route56), 1,628 pts (+101)*
5. (5.) Leudimin (Me ), 1,595 pts (+141)
6. (7.) AARoads (Alex), 1,483 pts (+144)

*Entered in round 4, lowest score up to there assigned

Woot, I made a good move by doing nothing! I got a ton of points and I become the segment leader. Nice crash that of Alex's wife, with 3 DNFs, and gets out of the overall leadership. Now the scoreboards. Segment:

1. (3.) Leudimin (Me ), 328 points (+187) (Runner-up)
2. (6.) kshighways (route56), 282 pts (+181)
3. (2.) AARoads (Alex), 278 pts (+134)
4. (5.) 6018555 (flaroads), 274 pts (+141)
5. (1.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 264 pts (+98)
6. (4.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 256 pts (+116)

Overall:
1. (2.) 6018555 (flaroads), 1,922 points (+141)
2. (1.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 1,921 pts (+98)
3. (3.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 1,880 pts (+116)
4. (4.) kshighways (route56), 1,809 pts (+181)*

6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 1,617 pts (+134)

Was driving the whole time the race was on, but listened to it on the radio. If the race had been rained out after the midpoint, I would have had 4 of the top 5, but as it went on, two of my drivers were involved with crashes and then the 48 got his from NASCAR on that final restart. So went my day down the tubes. At least my actual drive was uneventful and devoid of traffic jams.

I'm on full throttle! It's the second time in a row I score over 180 points  and I'm about to catch route56 in the overall. The bad thing is that nobody got trolled by the drivers like they did to Alex's wife last week.
Segment scoreboard:
1. (1.) Leudimin (Me ), 513 points (+185)
2. (4.) 6018555 (flaroads), 449 pts (+175)
3. (6.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 447 pts (+191) (Runner-up)

2. (2.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 2,085 pts (+164)
3. (3.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 2,071 pts (+191) (Runner-up)
4. (4.) kshighways (route56), 1,972 pts (+163)*
5. (5.) Leudimin (Me ), 1,967 pts (+185)
6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 1,765 pts (+148)

Okay, this time I got trolled. Of my five driver set only Kyle Busch managed to get into the top 10. But at least I continue at the top of the segment scoreboard. Overall, nobody got past the 150 point mark, what a bad race for all us...
Segment scoreboard:
1. (1.) Leudimin (Me ), 609 points (+96)
2. (2.) 6018555 (flaroads), 588 pts (+139)

5. (3.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 566 pts (+119)
6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 532 pts (+106)

1. (1.) 6018555 (flaroads), 2,236 points (+139)
2. (2.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 2,234 pts (+149) (Runner-up)
3. (3.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 2,190 pts (+119)

6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 1,871 pts (+106)

Next week things can mess up, since we are going to a race track with right curves as well as left ones (Finally! I don't like those boring ovals, triangles, etc): Sonoma CA. Time to do a roster overhaul. Steve, join now, they run clockwise there :sombrero:.

No matter who I go with, at least two of my five drivers either wreck, have engine problems, or simply run out of gas...

Last time I had the lead, we were just about to head to a plate track (Talladega).  The wheels fell off and the engine blew up.

Now we're staring the Daytona slot machine square in the eyes.  Better enjoy the lead while I can.

But since I got more points than you, you are getting more distanced from me :pan:, even if Logano didn't finished the race. And this is thanks to Johnson's win.

Segment scoreboard:
1. (1.) Leudimin (Me ), 1,106 points (+159)
2. (3.) kshighways (route56), 1,081 pts (+181) (Runner-up)
3. (2.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 1,066 pts (+144)
4. (4.) 6018555 (flaroads), 1,057 pts (+160)
5. (5.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 990 pts (+114)
6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 905 pts (+146)

Overall. 3rd leader change in a row:
1. (2.) 6018555 (flaroads), 2,705 points (+160)
2. (1.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 2,690 pts (+144)

6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 2,244 pts (+146)

Finally I got back my computer and Firefox with it, so no more of shitxplorer to update. Next week is at Loudon NH, back to a better schedule for me.

I've crashed, too :ded:. And I get out of the segment leadership. But at least I've got only one DNF. And no matter how bad I perform, I always throw at least one point of difference over Alex :sombrero:.

So now, the scoreboards.
Segment:
1. (4.) 6018555 (flaroads) 1,230 points (+173) (Runner-up)
2. (1.) Leudimin (I don't want to be here :banghead:), 1,216 pts (+110)
3. (2.) kshighways (route56), 1,213 pts (+130)
4. (3.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 1,192 pts (+126)
5. (5.) jlyben9176 (Alex's wife), 1,134 pts (+144)
6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 1,014 pts (+109)

Overall:
1. (1.) 6018555 (flaroads), 2,878 points (+173) (No "runner-up" for the leader :-P)
2. (2.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 2,816 pts (+126)
3. (3.) jlyben9176 (Alex's wife), 2,791 pts (+144)
4. (4.) kshighways (route56), 2,740 pts (+130)*
5. (5.) Leudimin (Me ), 2,670 pts (+110)
6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 2,353 pts (+109)

FTFY, I had the same team. I should be back in top of segment now (Since I have overtaken flaroads), but instead I lost another place :banghead:. And as always I keep trowing more points between Alex and me, but at least Alex is now sightly closer to the leader. And mefailenglish has got a load of points, breaking the 200 point barrier for the first time ever! (I believe the highest possible score is somewhere above 210).

Segment scoreboard:
1. (3.) kshighways (route56), 1,408 points (+195)

6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 2,502 pts (+149)

I have it as 214, with the breakdown as follows:

47 - winner (including bonus points for winning and leading the most important lap)
42 - 2nd
41 - 3rd
40 - 4th
39 - 5th
4 - 2nd-5th each led at least one lap
1 - Any driver in top 5 led the most laps

Indeed, I totally bombed that race. I only got to see the first 30 or so laps so I never got to see or hear what happened. All I found out this morning was Jeff Burton was dead last (and he is my sleeper driver).

But I am not worried too much about it. We all have a bad race once in a while. As long as I lead the overall, I could care less about anything else! lol  :D

^^ I'm awaiting the race where you get trolled by the drivers :bigass:, as they did to route56 (I have cut by 40% the difference I had). And while Alex gets closer to his wife, flaroads and the aforementioned route56, I'm still making the gap between him and me bigger. Heck, there is a bigger gap between Alex and me than the one between mefailenglish and me!

Segment scoreboard:
1. (2.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 1,583 points (+188) (Runner-up)

Was on the road during both of the last two races and caught most of them on the Motor Sports Racing network on FM Radio. Had little internet access the last two weeks too, so my team pretty much stayed the same (and sucked none the less).

However, I was able to drive by Darlington again and literally walk out onto the track at Martinsville, so  :-P

I recently took a similar drive, passing both Martinsville and Darlington...though I didn't get to walk out on either track.  I've been trying different routes between South Florida and SW Virginia the past few years.  Google prefers 95->26->77 which makes perfect sense but puts you through the traffic hell that is Charlotte.  I'm growing fond of a route up 95 to Florence, then up to Rockingham (note to self: next time take detour to The Rock) and 74 to 77.  (Last time I took 73/220 to Martinsville to finish clinching 73.)

ObNASCAR:  Though normally I would recommend starting Tony Stewart at Watkins Glen...probably not a good idea this year.

Went by Rockingham one year when heading south from DE to FL. It is probably one of the most rural tracks that was on the Sprint (Nextel/Winston) Cup series.

Taken in May 2007 by the then North Carolina Speedway (https://www.aaroads.com/southeast/north_carolina001/us-001_sb_at_nc_speedway_02.jpg), the sign out front still advertised tickets for the Subway 400, the last Cup Series race held there in 2004.

You could say that about the closed North Wilkesboro Speedway (removed from the Winston Cup Series in 1996) as well since it is equally rural just off of the U.S. 421 freeway.

I hear you on the trips to the Mid-Atlantic. I generally try to mix things up, but depending upon time, I am generally relegated to freeways. Fortunately US 220 between Roanoke and the Greensboro area is a decent road with few traffic lights once you get out of the Roanoke area. FYI, Initial construction (http://www.ncdot.gov/projects/search/details.html#id=1942) is underway from N.C. 68 northward for the future I-73.

Scoreboards will be put up overnight (Tomorrow morning UTC), meanwhile I can say the last is again the first. And route56, why you like to eat the first I of Leudimin?

I have to say my username is somewhat incorrect as I decided to keep what I call the "Spanish order" here, the "English order" would be something like "meleudin", which doesn't sound as good as "leudimin". Oh, and I got that username from the name of a disease, guess what :P.

I know! It always pisses me off when these lapped cars don't give way to the leaders, especially when its my favorite driver leading! Bowyer unfortunately was just stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time. Hopefully he can at least make it back up to the top 15.

Yeah, you seem to be running away with this race at the moment. I've been screwed by Kurt, with three others running so-so. I did pick Kenseth back up and at least he is leading at the moment, otherwise I would be below Me Fail English and Leudimin Racing.

Nice crash that of mefailenglish where I crashed badly back in May. He had a DNS :sombrero: and a couple of DNFs, while I only had a DNF. In other words, mefailenglish forgot to make any changes and got trolled by Dillon. Meanwhile, despite I didn't got out of 5th place overall I get again to the top in current segment. Oh, and after two rounds there is again a bigger gap between Alex and me.

Segment:
1. (3.) Leudimin (Me ), 2,006 points (+136)
2. (2.) kshighways (route56), 1,985 pts (+109)
3. (1.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 1,965 pts (+90)
4. (4.) 6018555 (flaroads), 1,918 pts (+143)
5. (5.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 1,864 pts (+152) (Runner-up)
6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 1,794 pts (+103)

Overall:
1. (1.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 3,589 points (+90)
2. (2.) 6018555 (flaroads), 3,566 pts (+143)
3. (4.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 3,521 pts (+152) (Runner-up)

5. (5.) Leudimin (Me ), 3,460 pts (+136)
6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 3,133 pts (+103)

*Entered in round 4, lowest score up to there assigned.

Next week we go to Hampton GA (near Atlanta). As the race for the cup gets closer, I suggest to do something like that here, like the winner of last segment wins all the season. Any thoughts?

Yeah, we get it that you are well on your way to winning this segment and you are increasing the point spread...

QuoteAs the race for the cup gets closer, I suggest to do something like that here, like the winner of last segment wins all the season. Any thoughts?

I think it should be kept the way it is with the Segment and Overall tallies separate. Hypothetically, how would you feel if you won the first two segments, then bombed the last one, only to have someone else win that segment (and via your suggestion win the whole season)? I know if I were in that scenario I would feel like my two segment wins were negated due to someone else winning that last segment and being handed the overall winner spot.

No, I say we do not give the last segment winner the overall win of the season. Keep it separate.

It seems nobody caught the misspelling I wrote intentionally: I put "rooster" instead of "roster".

Now for last (over)night race. I had some troubles making up my roster accordingly with my strategy, and I had to pick Truex. But it worked very well, as I got a load of points and finally I got out from second to last place, so now it's up to route56 to make the gap with Alex the boss bigger.
Segment scoreboard:
1. (1.) Leudimin (Me ), 2,202 points (+196) (No "Runner-up" for the leader)
2. (3.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 2,133 pts (+168)
3. (2.) kshighways (route56), 2,095 pts (+113)
4. (4.) 6018555 (flaroads), 2,079 pts (+161)
5. (5.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 2,006 pts (+142)
6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 1,911 pts (+117)

Overall:
1. (1.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 3,757 points (+168)
2. (2.) 6018555 (flaroads), 3,727 pts (+161)
3. (3.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 3,663 pts (+142)
4. (5.) Leudimin (Me ), 3,656 pts (+196) (Runner-up)
5. (4.) kshighways (route56), 3,622 pts (+113)*
6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 3,250 pts (+117)

*Entered in round 4, lowest score up to there assigned.

And for the last race before the beggining of the chase for the cup, we get back to Richmond VA (Not the one in CA nor VT).

Well, I have won the segment. But the chase for the cup starts! With the latest race results, I predict myself to win the great 2013 AARoads NASCAR cup, so it would be shipped across the pond :sombrero:. So now for the final segment 2 results:
1. (1.) Leudimin (Me ), 2,353 points (+151)
2. (2.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 2,261 pts (+128)
3. (3.) kshighways (route56), 2,241 pts (+146)
4. (4.) 6018555 (flaroads), 2,216 pts (+137)
5. (5.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 2,155 pts (+149)
6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 2,087 pts (+176) (Runner-up)

Overall.
1. (1.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 3,885 points (+128)
2. (2.) 6018555 (flaroads), 3,864 pts (+137)
3. (3.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 3,812 pts (+149)
4. (4.) Leudimin (Me ), 3,807 pts (+151)
5. (5.) kshighways (route56), 3,768 pts (+146)
6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 3,426 pts (+176) (Runner-up)

The chase for the cup begins. Two teamers aren't eligible for the cup: on_wisconsin, who vanished after the first segment ended back in May; and Alex, who lagged behind the rest of the group from race one. Despite missing the first three races (And thus a 369 point corrector has been applied to him since he joined), route56 is still eligible for the cup. See you all in Joliet IL (SW of Chicago) next week!

I wouldn't dismiss those that are still in the fantasy league out just yet simply because of their position at the start of the third segment. A lot can happen in those last 10 events. It happened to me last year. I was very near the bottom (overall) going in the final segment but at the end of the season I made it to the top three, thanks to better selection on my part and having some of those ahead of me falter in the last races. Granted I didn't win but I moved up four positions in a short amount of time. Point being, you never know what is going to happen.

And for what its worth, I do not follow your "point corrector", so I see a slightly different scenario going into this last segment...

With that being said, good luck to all in these last 10 races! May the best "driver selector" win!

Then for you route56 is even behind Alex with only 3,399 points. I've been adding 369 points to route56's score due to he missing the first three races. 369 was the score of Alex (Already last) at that time.

But you said so, everything can happen in the Chase for the cup. Lets choose and wait.

PS: Just four races ago I was 200 points behind the leader, now I'm only 80 away.

I didn't knew about the controversy. Very very few NASCAR news make it across the pond to here.

Its been in headlines all week over here. This is a more updated version of what has transpired since the end of last Saturday night's race:

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nascar-adds-gordon-chase-field-201315916--nascar.html (http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nascar-adds-gordon-chase-field-201315916--nascar.html)

Long story short: Michael Waltrip Racing was called out on manipulating the end of the race with Clint Bowyer's spin and having Brian Vickers pit to get positions for Martin Truex Jr. to get into the Chase, and essentially Jeff Gordon out. After an explosion of outrage from people in the social media world, NASCAR pursued an investigation into the allegations of manipulating the outcome. Their findings were conclusive that MWR cheated, so they were fined $300,000, suspended the General Manager (who was Vickers spotter that night and was the one who told him to pit) indefinitely, docked each driver 50 points, and ultimately kicked Martin Truex Jr. out of the Chase, replacing him with Ryan Newman. Fast forward to Friday, NASCAR held a press conference in the afternoon announcing that a 13th spot had been created for the Chase and that Jeff Gordon would fill that slot, because of all the wrong doing from MWR and from the fact that two other teams (Joey Logano and David Gilliland) supposedly made a deal to get Logano into the Chase. So since NASCAR changed its own rule (as they often do for their privileged drivers) there are 13 drivers racing for the Championship.

The hyperlink article gives a better description of what happened, but that's it in a nutshell. I'm sure I missed something in my summary, but its been such a busy week in NASCAR news. You know, in writing that synopsis it almost seems like I just wrote a script for some sort of testosteroned-enriched soap opera...

And yes, I am keeping my avatar alone and not removing it. I am a Clint Bowyer fan, through the ups and the downs of his career. I'm not sure if the spin was intentional, even with the "suspicious" in-car chatter right before the spin (which I think was total coincidence and was probably related to something else entirely - say the poison oak he had on both arms) but if he could blow a tire just from forcing a spin, then he is one hell of a driver!! The only way they could have caused the tire to go down is if they bent the right front quarter panel downward to slightly rub on the tire on that last pit stop. No one has said that is what happened, and from the sound of it the whole story behind the spin will remain silent (for good I hope). Unfortunately for Bowyer though, he has a rough road ahead of him trying to get his fan base back because there are a lot of Bowyer haters out there now.

As for Gordon, I honestly don't think he deserved the chance to get into the Chase. He had a mediocre year including five DNF's and no wins. Granted he was on the bubble going into Richmond, but who is to say that even if MWR didn't do what they did that he would have gotten in? Something else entirely could have happened in those final seven laps. No, he only got in because of his constant pleas and the pleas of Hendrick Motorsports, which has major clout in this sport. Now that he is in, we'll see what he can do to win his fifth Championship, if anything at all.

By the way, because of all of this, now all four Hendrick Motorsports drivers are in the Chase, giving them a 30.8% chance of going home with the trophy. Just food for thought.  ;-)

Well, if I stay late tonight ET I won't sleep! (Remember, I'm six hours ahead of ET)

Too bad Vickers got a DNF, but thankfully Kenseth won. Due to flaroads getting a load of points, I lag to 110 points behind. And now:
Chase for the cup:
1. 6018555 (flaroads), 194 points
2. jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 159 pts
3. jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 143 pts
4. Leudimin (Me ), 141 pts
5. AARoads (Alex), 139 pts
6. kshighways (route56), 128 pts

Overall:
1. (2.) 6018555 (flaroads), 4,058 points (+194) (Runner-up)
2. (1.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 4,044 pts (+159)
3. (3.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 3,955 pts (+143)
4. (4.) Leudimin (Me ), 3,948 pts (+141)
5. (5.) kshighways (route56), 3,896 pts (+128)*
6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 3,527 pts (+139)

*Entered in round 4, lowest score up to there assigned.

Next round we go back to New Hampshire. Due to technical issues we have now $2 million (€1.5 million) more to spend on drivers. Oh, and I have renamed my team for the chase.

It being such a flat race, not knowing when it was going to resume, and having it end up around midnight ET added to an already strong lack of interest due to all of the happenings from the previous weekend. Ended up having to keep tabs on it via race buddy after an equally flat Night of Champions. Plus football sucked yesterday for me as well!

I think it's worth pointing out that 194 was the top score for the week...not just in our group, but for everyone playing on ESPN.  That's quite a feat!

Due to technical issues we have now $2 million (€1.5 million) more to spend on drivers. Oh, and I have renamed my team for the chase.
I thought the dollar values seemed high for the reset salary cap.  Glad to see I wasn't imagining things.

It seems the trend has inverted, we are now diverging in the scoreboard. I'm now down to 130 points behind, once again flaroads has got a lot of points and therefore no Runner-ups are given this week :P. But beware flaroads, I expect an epic fail from you soon... And now for the scoreboards:
Chase for the cup:
1. (1.) 6018555 (flaroads), 383 points (+189)
2. (2.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 331 pts (+172)
3. (3.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 319 pts (+176)
4. (4.) Leudimin (Me ), 310 pts (+169)
5. (5.) AARoads (Alex), 302 pts (+163)
6. (6.) kshighways (route56), 287 pts (+159)

Overall:
1. (1.) 6018555 (flaroads), 4,247 points (+189)
2. (2.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 4,216 pts (+172)
3. (3.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 4,131 pts (+176)
4. (4.) Leudimin (Me ), 4,117 pts (+169)
5. (5.) kshighways (route56). 4,055 pts (+159)*
6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 3,728 pts (+163)

* Entered in round 4, lowest score up to there assigned.

Next week we go back to Dover DE. As I said, they should build a few more racetracks in order not to repeat venues.

I might have to change my roster as well to maintain my lead...haha  :-D

I didn't knew this weekend was the last race on a (over)night schedule.  At least I'm a little closer to the leader, but with only 5 rounds to go, I'm sure it won't happen. So now for the scoreboards:
Chase for the cup:
1. (1.) 6018555 (flaroads), 854 points (+160)
2. (2.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 830 pts (+175)
3. (3.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 792 pts (+169)
4. (4.) AARoads (Alex), 790 pts (+180) (Runner-up)
5. (5.) Leudimin (Me ), 773 pts (+165)
6. (6.) kshighways (route56), 713 pts (+148)

Overall:
1. (1.) 6018555 (flaroads), 4,718 points (+160)
2. (2.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 4,715 pts (+175)
3. (3.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 4,604 pts (+169)
4. (4.) Leudimin (Me ), 4,580 pts (+165)
5. (5.) kshighways (route56), 4,481 pts (+148)*
6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 4,216 pts (+180) (Runner-up)

* Entered in round 4, lowest score up to there assigned.

And next week, we come back to that track where things can shake up: Talladega AL. It is the last time the scoreboards could mess up, so you never know...

Not a bad strategy (like I should be giving advise on that given my 51 at 'Dega earlier this year), I may do something similar. My team in the spring seemed to be solid (outside of Trevor Bayne who crashed out solo early on in the race), but all but one of my drivers finished in the 30s *crash and burn*.

Single-file racing snoozefest at Talladega of all places. And one of my crap shoot picks burned me, giving me one of the few DNF's (Ambrose) in the race. Not even a top-ten driver with that 20 or so circuit of practice laps leading to that final crash...

Glad Austin Dillan was unhurt and that his car landed on its tires and not its roof after he went airborn.

I could have done without the announce team prefacing "The Big One" every three minutes too. I am sure they were told "keep saying it to keep viewers watching" while the drivers were toll by Helton "keep it clean or else".
</soap box>

Plus the Eagles were mowed over by the Cowgirls, so not a good sports day.

Here's hoping TNA's Bound for Glory has something worth seeing...
Title: Re: 2013 NASCAR Fantasy League
Post by: FLRoads on October 20, 2013, 07:48:49 PM
From the little bit I seen of the Truck race yesterday, that was a much better race. Of course I am sure Helton doesn't view the Truck series as important as the Sprint in his eyes. I cannot even recall where they finished pretty much in a single file format at Talladega. I am glad to see McMurray won though, as he does usually do fairly well at the restrictor-plate tracks.

If they keep up this kind of "racing", then Darrel Waltrip is going to have to change his motto of "Let's go racin' boys" to "Let's go drive 'round in a circle, boys", and that just don't sound right.

I'm certainly hoping BFG will be better to watch than watching that race and the Bucs fall 0-6!! They need to get that penalty monster off their back. If not it will be off early to bed for me...

Okay, that's my little bit of getting off track. Now back to racing...

I made a good move by having Ragan in my lineup. From the scoreboard, I predict the last four races (Martinsville VA, Fort Worth TX, Avondale AZ and the final at Homestead FL) will be a battle between mefailenglish and flaroads. I'll try to steal the 3rd place from Alex's wife. So now for the scoreboards:
Chase for the cup:

2. (2.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 977 pts (+147) (Runner-up)

5. (4.) AARoads (Alex), 899 pts (+109)
6. (6.) kshighways (route56), 849 pts (+136)

Overall:
1. (2.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 4,862 pts (+147) (Runner-up)
2. (1.) 6018555 (flaroads), 4,851 points (+133)

4. (4.) Leudimin (Me ), 4,719 pts (+139)
5. (5.) kshighways (route56), 4,617 pts (+136)*
6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 4,325 pts (+109)

* Entered in round 4, lowest score up to there assigned.

Thanks.  Martinsville is my favorite track and I'm always happy to see it come up on the schedule.  I'm not surprised that Gordon and Johnson finished highly, but I was surprised that all of my team snuck into the top 10.

And you never know.  I might get the itch to go driving and forget to edit my lineup and leave someone like Austin Dillon active.  It's happened before.  (Actually, I am considering a trip up to Georgia to pick up some counties and visit Andersonville and Jimmy Carter NHS over Veterans' Day weekend.  I might even take a detour through Perry FL to pick up a missing mile or so of Truck 221 to complete my clinch of all US highways in Florida.)

As promised, the scoreboards. I did a mistake, I said there were no runner-ups when there is actually the one on the segment scoreboard, but not the overall one.

Chase for the cup:

5. (4.) AARoads (Alex), 1,065 pts (+166)
6. (6.) kshighways (route56), 982 pts (+133)

Fail for mefailenglish. Jeff Gordon is out.
/throws helmet at the 24 car

But I do appreciate the 4 extra points he gave me by going back out and rising from 42nd to 38th.

Another solid, but not spectacular, week at Phoenix.  Points racing at its finest.  32 point lead for the "Chase" segment, and 53 overall.  But as they roll into my neck of the woods in Homestead, this thing is not over.  Just look back a few weeks at Martinsville; flip that result around and I'm on the outside looking in.

Sorry for this late post about scoreboards. My computer broke down and until today it wasn't repaired. But the same day the computer stopped working, I got a tablet PC (I don't know the correct term) and I managed to enter the ESPN website to make my changes. And this turned out to be a brilliant move, leaving me only 9 points behind the podium just before the last round. Now for the penultimate scoreboards:
Chase for the cup:
1. (1.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 1,480 points (+152)
2. (2.) 6018555 (flaroads), 1,448 pts (+146)
3. (3.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 1,433 pts (+150)
4. (5.) Leudimin (Me ), 1,429 pts (+180) (Runner-up)
5. (4.) AARoads (Alex), 1,396 pts (+158)
6. (6.) kshighways (route56), 1,227 pts (+136)

Overall:
1. (1.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 5,365 points (+152)
2. (2.) 6018555 (flaroads), 5,312 pts (+146)
3. (3.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 5,245 pts (+150)
4. (4.) Leudimin (Me ), 5,236 pts (+180) (Runner-up)
5. (5.) kshighways (route56), 4,995 pts (+136)*
6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 4,822 pts (+158)

* Entered in round 4, lowest score up to there assigned.

So, on Sunday is the final race at Homestead FL. What will happen? Also, I will post the scoreboards without any adjustement, and with on_wisconsin in it.

Congrats to Joe on winning the Stock Car Challenge!

I made some moves last night that burned me. Oh well, seems to have been how my rookie season went.

It seems Richie gave up after Talladega. KRN!  :-P

Glad that everyone participated, maybe we can do it again next season!

Congratulations to you, Joe! I felt there would be no way to catch you in this last race. Seems Matt Kenseth and I have something in common now...lol

The season is over! Congratulations Joe (mefailenglish) for winning the whole season! I finish at 3rd place after getting the final Runner-up and overtaking Alex's wife to get into the podium. And now, the final Chase for the cup scoreboard
1. (1.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 1,667 points (+187)
2. (2.) 6018555 (flaroads), 1,634 pts (+186)
3. (4.) Leudimin (Me ), 1,625 pts (+196) (Runner-up)
4. (3.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 1,605 pts (+172)
5. (5.) AARoads (Alex), 1,550 pts (+154)
6. (6.) kshighways (route56), 1,357 pts (+130)

And now for the definitive, final SCOREBOARD!
1. (1.) jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 5,552 points (+187) (Overall winner!)
2. (2.) 6018555 (flaroads), 5,498 pts (+186)
3. (4.) Leudimin (Me ), 5,432 pts (+196) (Runner-up)
4. (3.) jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 5,417 pts (+172)
5. (5.) kshighways (route56), 5,125 pts (+130)*
6. (6.) AARoads (Alex), 4,976 pts (+154)

I've been adding 369 points to route56's score due to he missing the first 3 races. If no correctors are added, then the scoreboard changes as follows:
5. (5.) AARoads (Alex), 4,976 pts (+154)
6. (6.) kshighways (route56), 4,756 pts (+130)

And last, but not least:
7. (7.) on_wisconsin33 (on_wisconsin), 1,436 pts (+0)

Apparently he only selected a roster at the very beginning of the season and then forgot this, and when the first segment ended in May he vanished from the charts.

And now a little extra: The highest and lowest scores on a single race.
The highest score on a single race was 203 points, clinched by mefailenglish at Speedway IN (Near Indianapolis). He got all his drivers in the top 10 that day in late July.
Excluding zeroes, the lowest score was 51 points. Alex crashed that bad at the first visit to Talladega AL in early May, with only one driver of his roster completing every lap. This happened at Aaron's 499, some months later I befriended a two year old kid named Aaron. What a coincidence.

Well, that's all folks. See you all next season, starting at Daytona by late February!

Thanks.  Not sure if you caught it, but I was invited to co-host the 3 AM "Centro de Deportes" on ESPN 8, the Ocho.  Also, for some reason, Donovan McNabb called me "quite the athlete" on his talk show, which angered a number of fantasy NASCAR reporters on twitter.
