Does anyone know what kind of bridge the Port Authority of NY and NJ are going to use to replace the old 1924 structure between NJ and SI? 

I heard that originally the PANYNJ wanted to twin the crossing, but now rumors have it that it will be replaced with a cable stayed bridge with two decks.

Problem is it is not concrete and PANYNJ has not posted it, or I have not looked deep enough.  Sometimes I get better info here than there.

My buddy who works for the PANYNJ says, on condition of anonymity, that it will be a low-level drawbridge, with 20 expected openings per hour. It will be signed as I-99.

That might be a way to get people on to the island via the expensive Verazano Bridge.
