Over the holidays, I was in southern California and on Christmas Eve, my mother, brother and his wife and daughter and I toured the Queen Mary, then took a drive around Palos Verdes Peninsula. I had heard a few years ago that they were going to be replacing the Gerald Desmond Bridge between Long Beach and Terminal Island with a bigger bridge, but I didn't see any signs of construction. What's the status, if any, on that project?

Thanks for the link! Looks like it's just starting to get going, then.

I'm actually old enough to vaguely remember when there was no Gerald Desmond Bridge--there was just a funny little pontoon drawbridge connecting Terminal Island to Long Beach.
