I am surprised that with all the posts mentioning Ted Williams, that none refer to Ted Williams Parkway/Freeway in San Diego.

How hard would it have been to use "406" for the route number?

The Webster Tube between Alameda and Oakland (CA 260 SB) should become the Bumgarner Tube. (The Posey Tube, in the other direction, can keep its name.)
My first SF/horror short story collection is available: "Young Man, Open Your Winter Eye"

Are any of these people actually heroes? Maybe Jackie Robinson.

I accept and respect your identity as long as it's not dumb shit like "identifying as a vaccinated attack helicopter".

If you're looking for "Heroes" in the Greek sense, you're going to be highly disappointed. Most of them just happened to be adept at their job.

Ted Williams twice left one of the most successful baseball careers ever in order to go serve with distinction in two wars.

I wouldn't worry about hero worship today.  Judging by the average girth of kids today, athletes are not people many of them are striving to emulate.

Jackson, MS, has Kevin Garnett Drive, named for the NBA star. He donated money to rebuild some run-down houses; thus, having the street named after him.

How did we miss the Tom Landry Freeway - Interstate 30 between Dallas and Fort Worth?

Jameis Winston Way in Tallahassee.

Dale Earnhardt Boulevard in Kannapolis, NC (not coincidentally, a segment of NC Route 3)

They also have a DALE EARNHARDT BLVD near Snelling, S.C. The street is a dead-ender there, though.

Near the former site of Tiger Stadium in Detroit, there is a street called Cochrane St, thought to be named after the first Tiger manager (Mickey Cochrane) who brought a World Series championship to Detroit (in 1935).

The old Tiger Stadium was located at the corner of Michigan and Trumbell.  The opposite corner was (Al) Kaline & (Mickey) Cochrane.  I believe Trumbell should be re-named for Alan Trammell.
