Why does US 377 go through Ada, OK

According to the latest ODOT maps, US 377 and its sidekick OK 99 hop off of the freeway loop and follow city streets through downtown Ada. They follow a road with 2 90 degree turns. Google maps shows US 377 following the bypass. Did they reroute it or does it still hop off the freeway? The latest Google images show where 377 and 99 still hopping off the freeway:

If it does indeed. still go into Ada, then it means that the bypasses are signed at various locations as OK 1, OK 3, and OK 3E. There is no single number for the bypass. It is known that they didn't renumber the OK 99 route when the bypass was first built, unless they recently rerouted the highways.

Last I checked, it still went through Ada.  Not through the downtown core, but east of it on Mississippi.

Another thing on 377.  The official state map shows it running to Stroud, but it is signed only as OK 99 north of I-40.

SH-99 follows US-377 throughout the latter's entire stay in Oklahoma. My guess is that US-377 simply continues to follow the route that it did before the Richardson Loop was built and ODOT just never bothered to reroute it. Note that the expressway between Ada and the Canadian River is fairly recent construction (i.e. opened in the last 10 years or so). Before that US-377/SH-99/SH-3E followed Broadway north through Byng.

What is the official north end of 277?  There is ZERO reason for it past Chickasha.

The very first sign for US-277 southbound after splitting from I-44 is in Series A. That's reason enough for it to exist for me.

Just gotta love it when people distort fonts out of their native proportions in the computer. That example of what I call "font murder" exposes another one of the design deficiencies in current highway sign type families. There are no native extended weights in any of them. Other "super font" families like Helvetica Neue have entire families drawn in extended versions, from hairline weight to black. There are other type families, like Briller, that are designed just for extended type needs.
