IDOT stated they were going to do a finance study for the corridor, but nothing has been discussed in a while. Does anyone know what the status of the US 20 project from Freeport to Galena is?

Do you think it is even worth continuing? I mean, it has been proposed for 20+ years and has gotten virtually nowhere. No way will Illinois ever come up with the funding at the rate it's going. The only way I MAYBE see it being built is if a public/private partnership is established and a private company builds phases of it in exchange for payments from the state over a certain period, kind of like how Indiana is upgrading SR 37 in Bloomington, IN to I-69.

My understanding is that it's pretty much not going to happen anytime soon due to lack of funding. In fact, the only part that really had gained any traction was the Galena bypass. That seems to have come to a full stop, with the last meaningful event happening in 2006.

Nothing has happened since they finished the final section of the Freeport bypass. Unless the project gets some sort of traction with being a "critical" corrdior to be developed, we won't see anything under the new administration.

I'm pretty sure a good chunk of info was revealed in your previous thread:

I thought the question/discussion sounded familiar.

IDOT had planned to reconstruct a stretch near Stockton to 3 lanes and that looks cut to a resurface
