The Caltrans Strategic Plan has been posted for the period 2015-2020. This plan includes goals and objectives surrounding Caltrans activities, especially in the five key areas of Safety and Health; Stewardship and Efficiency; Sustainability, Livability, and Economy; System Performance; and Organizational Excellence. The report can be reached at this link:

A notable measure associated with the area of System Performance is "Travel time reliability on four commute directions (SR-57, US-110, I-80 and I-210). By 2020, improve buffer time index (BTI) reliability ranking by one level (unreliable to moderately reliable or moderately reliable to reliable) on four  commute directions (SR-57, US-110, I-80, and I-210)." I'm not sure if they mean I-110 or US-101 in this measure.

The plan also notes the regular reporting offered in the Caltrans Mile Marker report, which is linked at http://www.dot.ca.gov/newscenter.html on the Caltrans webpage. The latest version of the Mile Marker report is from March 2015 and is linked at http://www.dot.ca.gov/ctjournal/MileMarker/2015-1/index.html.

US 110. For real, it actually says that.

How about seeing CalTrans come up with a way to build a pair of one-lane tunnels and two short bridges in less than 30 years?  That would be truly strategic!

US 101 is THE backbone of the Pacific coast from Bandon OR to Willits CA.  Industry, tourism and local traffic would be gone or severely crippled without it being in functioning condition in BOTH states.

The latest California Milemarker (year end 2015) has articles on I-215 HOV, roundabouts, barriers to migrating fish, drought response, and I-80 old bay bridge implosion. The back cover and table of contents pages show the mudslide that covered portions of SR 58 during rains in Oct 2015.
