My grandfather died peacefully in his sleep yesterday

And thus ends an era in my family, which is still in shock.  He died at the age of 92.  Words cannot describe my feelings at the moment, while I still try to get over the shock of it all.  For much of my life, he's been the only grandfather I knew (my other grandfather died several years before I was born due to complications arising from emphysema), and after Dad died 10 years ago he was one of those people that really helped out Mom and me, to the point where he would view my mother as one of his kids - even though she only came into the family via marriage.  Anyone who lived in Pawtucket, RI, for any lengthy period of time would have come across him at some point or another because he was that visible, particularly amongst the older generations.  Still doesn't numb the shock any further that what my family and I are going through.
