What widely known landmark to you live or work near?

Generally, people can describe where they live or work based on something in their same region.  For some people, maybe it's a National Park, tall building, or a major mall (Mall of America, for example).  Think of things that are generally a destination or point of interest to a lot of people.  "Local County Park" or "Small Shopping Plaza" may be significant for some people in a small area, but most people aren't going to know where it is.

And for fun, leave roads out of it.  Thus, no Spaghetti Interchanges or 5 Stacks! :-)

For me...a block down from NJ's Capitol Building.  And while I live close to Philly, I'll often describe it as just 3 miles away from the ballparks and PHL Airport, which means, technically, I can't fly a drone.  Unfortunately, some of those planes do fly quite low right over my house!!!

For where I live, I live 3 miles away from UW Platteville (in 2013 I lived 2 miles away from Six Flags Magic Mountain).  Where I work now is ~6 miles away from the National Mississippi River Museum (Dubuque)

Ah, the open skies, wind at my back, warm sun on my... wait, where the hell am I?!
As a matter of fact, I do own the road.

Probably the best-known landmark that I live near would be West Point.

As for work, it's typically Times Square or just generally "Broadway". Though some days I'm down close to the Flatiron Building instead, or sometimes Radio City Music Hall (not just "near", but "at"), and if I'm at the studio, I might be closer to Madison Square Garden. And of course my commute passes through the widely-known Grand Central Terminal.

"That sounded stupid, didn't it?"

The beautifully photogenic, stately Old Capitol Building of Georgia is less than 50 yards from my campus office on the grounds of Georgia Military College, Milledgeville.  Completed in 1838.  Secession approved in the Old Legislative Chamber, 1861.  Occupied by the Union Army, 1864 despite being ringed with cannon.  Declared a "surplus" building after the State Capitol was moved to Atlanta and confirmed in a constitutional referendum, 1877.  The College was founded in 1879.

Several blocks to the west in town is the Old Governor's Mansion, a historic centerpiece of the Georgia College and State University.

Not widely known, but my work is literally less than 1000 feet from the Mercer County Department of Transportation.

8 Mile Road

(yes, THAT 8 Mile Road)

I'm sorry.

I've driven on 8 Mile Road. It only gets a bad rap because of Eminem. It's nothing more than the Wayne/Oakland County line.

If we're counting universities then Yale University in New Haven.
