I think this is the smallest BGS I've seen that has the most stuff on it:

...and behind it, a confusing large BGS.

^ I suspect the small supplemental sign at the bullnose is due to the fact that you actually can't see the ramp exiting the highway from the larger signage that is upstream.  I get the topographic constraints, but given the importance of the ramp, this is example of pretty poor freeway geometry.

The two on the right in this picture come to mind. Sorry it's so grainy, but this video capture is the best picture I have of them. They're new within the past month or so. There used to be an overhead gantry with two hideous implementations of Clearview, one of which the FHWA used as an example of how not to use said typeface. I assume these two signs are intended to be temporary.

If you want to see what used to be there, check the following Street View image. The old gantry spanned both the general-purpose lanes and the reversible carriageway. I don't know why the new sign for the reversible lanes couldn't be mounted on the old gantry.

I was by there yesterday, and that panel is bad.  I have to presume it is a temporary installation.

If I can get a safe image of it I intend to do so, in part for the AAROADS "worst sign" collection.

Almost tempted to call someone I know at VDOT, but I think I will leave it before now - or until I can get an image of it.

Massive thread bump to note the two comments above were made in January 2015, and now, finally, within the past three weeks they've put up real BGSs on a new gantry at this same location, but they've left the two small signs in place as well. Strange. I don't have a picture because I've only seen the new signs in my mirrors when going the other direction in the reversible carriageway.

So those two tiny signs served as the "BGSs" for that interchange for some 16 months. Ridiculous.

I noticed that too recently; while driving into DC late one night, I saw crews prepping the signs for installation.  (I'm inclined to think that this was part of the project to create an auxiliary lane from VA-236 to Seminary Rd, hence the long delay.)  Two observations: 1) the contractor involved simply recycled the ugly Clearview signage that was installed between 2009 and 2011 according to GMSV (was hoping for replacement), and 2) they installed the signs in reverse order, placing the sign for VA-236 east (the second exit at the interchange) to the right of the sign for VA-236 west (the first exit).

Here's a really small one off to the right side.  A lot of the makeshift BGS "End" markers would be good candidates for this thread.

The smallest that I'm aware of in my area: I-55 at Manchac. The sign for Ruddock is the same size.

Because of how Louisiana lays out elements on the signs, we aren't going to see any of the tiny shield-and-arrow signs that you see in other states. This is a typical Louisiana sign with just a route shield.

The smallest BGS in Cenla I can think of is I-49 northbound approaching the US 167 expressway:
https://www.google.com/maps/@31.2948267,-92.4437354,3a,75y,352.68h,90t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sjpmKqkmKjGD3yTSeN4RWvQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

There's one just a bit bigger earlier at the MacArthur Drive/US 71 exit that only lists shields: I-49, US 167 and US 71 Bypass. I hate that with the area available a Shreveport control city is never used. In fact, there isn't a BGS anywhere for Shreveport going northbound.

For me, the definition of a BGS is "a guide sign generally in accordance with the design and function indicated in MUTCD chapter 2E". A LGS is the chapter 2D counterpart.
Wait, it's all Ohio? Always has been.
