Michigan House puts pedal to the metal on speed limit hike

The modest bumps to 75 on some freeways and 60 on some rural 2-lanes will be welcome. Senate has to approve it, and it needs a signature from Snyder to become reality.

I'm not sure the increases on some routes are worth trading authority over speed limits near schools and hospitals.  IMHO school speed limits need to have an engineer sign off of them, not a superintendent of the school district.

About time this happened....  I renumber when the bill for 70 MPH passed it really did have a noticeable effect on travel times.  Why stop with 60 MPH on some of the really rural routes could use 65 MPH?

Any plans to adjust the truck speeds? 75/60 is quite an imbalance.

Until fairly recently, Michigan was 70 car/55 truck on freeways.

I think most two-lane roads north of M-20 could easily be 65 no problem.
