I found this article about a single street in Kitchener-Waterloo with 8 names (and I drive it to work every morning)  :) If you only count the Kitchener portion, it's still 7 names.

http://www.therecord.com/opinion-story/4357781-road-ahead-one-street-two-cities-eight-names-only-in-waterloo-region-/

The streets from southeast to northwest are:
Idle Creek Dr
Fairway Cres
Lackner Blvd
Bingemans Centre Dr
Shirley Ave
Riverbend Dr
Bridgeport Rd
Caroline St

So, what's the most names you can find on a single street in your city (or another city if you want)?

My favorite has been US 183 thru the Austin (Texas) Metropolitan area:

State Highway 183 approaching Leander
TX 183A Toll Road (Concurrent, then splits off)
Bell Blvd (183 Proper); TX 183A Toll runs parallel
TX 183A Toll Road (Rejoins, then runs concurrent)
Research Blvd
Anderson Lane
Ed Bluestein Blvd
State Highway 183

That's 5 name changes if you don't count the duplicates, and 4 within the Austin City Limits.

CT 71 in New Britain has 7 names and no hard turns: South Main St, Franklin Square, Elm St, Harry S Truman Overpass, Martin Luther King Dr, Stanley St, Hartford Rd.

CT 10 in my town has 6: Queen St, North Main St, Main St, South Main St, Norton St, Old Turnpike Rd (only hard turn is between Main and South Main)
Interstates I've clinched: 97, 290 (MA), 291 (CT), 291 (MA), 293, 295 (DE-NJ-PA), 295 (RI-MA), 384, 391, 395 (CT-MA), 395 (MD), 495 (DE), 610 (LA), 684, 691, 695 (MD), 695 (NY), 795 (MD)

From the northern Richmond city limits to its terminus, VA 161 is the following: Hermitage Rd, N Boulevard, S Boulevard, (hard turn), Blanton Ave, (hard turn), Park Dr, Westover Hills Blvd, E Belt Blvd, (hard turn), Broad Rock Rd (duplex with VA 10), (hard turn), E Belt Blvd, (hard turn), Bells Rd, (hard turn), Commerce Rd, end.

Not exactly a single street, but that's a lot of names for one route.

Not in a city, but in a rural portion of Manistee County (six different names in three miles with no hard turns):

Gilbert Rd
Frederick Rd
Ware Rd
Lumley Rd
Iverson Rd
Norconk Rd

In a twist, the section of Lumley Rd that is part of this stretch is discontinuous from the remainder of Lumley Rd (the mapped portion of Lumley Rd between the Lumley/Iverson curve and Letteau Rd doesn't exist in real life).

Also, US-31 in Manistee has several names between the Casino and Manistee National:
Parkdale Ave
Arthur St
Cleveland St
Cypress St
Manistee Hwy
Grant Hwy

I'll accept it :). I was hesitant to include rural areas because I thought people would post a really long continuous section of road. But six names in 3 miles is impressive!

It's also Bastrop Highway between the Colorado River bridge and SH 71.

However, I don't think there is any concurrency between 183A and 183 at the north end. As far as I know, 183A ends at the intersection with the original 183 alignment, although it's obvious that the rebuild a few years ago from there north to SH 29 was done with the intent of having some kind of limited-access setup in the future.

West Street here in Jackson turns into North Brook Drive, and about two miles north, becomes Hanging Moss Rd. After crossing into Madison County, it becomes Highland Colony Parkway, which then chances to Bozeman Road after crossing MS 463, then further up the road, it changes to Catlett Road before finally ending at MS 22.

Wow, and I thought WI-47 in metro Appleton, WI was bad.  It changes name three times between its southern terminus in Menasha (little city of 17,000 that borders Appleton on the south side but has its own name and government) and the north side of Appleton:

  • It starts off as De Pere Street, going north from WI-114.
  • De Pere Street splits off due north as WI-47 curves northeasterly, taking on the name Appleton Road.
  • After the Valley Road/CR-P light, WI-47 enters Appleton and becomes Memorial Drive.
  • After the College Ave/WI-125 light in downtown Appleton, WI-47 becomes Richmond Street.

That's four names without any hard turns, but it does pale in comparison to some of these examples.  Wow.
Left for 5 months Oct 2018-Mar 2019 due to arguing in the DST thread.
Tried coming back Mar 2019.

In and around the Baltimore suburb of Bel Air, Maryland, U.S. Route 1 Business starts off as Conowingo Road, a name it picks up from mainline U.S. 1. As soon as it enters Bel Air town limits it becomes Hickory Avenue. It then turns onto a street called Broadway. Then, it splits into a couplet in downtown Bel Air, the southbound lanes being called Bond Street and the northbound lanes Main Street. The lanes turn, merge and pick up the name Baltimore Pike, which becomes Belair Road in the Harford Mall area around the point where U.S. 1 Business exits Bel Air proper. U.S. 1 Business ends at the south end of the U.S. 1 Bel Air Bypass at a junction called Benson, and mainline U.S. 1 takes the name Belair Road with it all the way into Baltimore.

Some streets in Chicagoland have multiple names at the same time.

Let's take, for instance, 167th Street, oh wait, I mean Stateville Road, no, it's actually Division Street.  Or Cermak Road, also known as 22nd Street, which in Oakbrook Terrace turns into Butterfield Road then makes a turn in North Aurora to become State Street.

Now let's consider the saga of Illinois 59.  It starts as Cottage Street in Shorewood, becomes Brookforest Drive (also in Shorewood).  Then on the other side of Joliet (where it's just known as Route 59), it becomes Division Street in Plainfield.  Up the road a ways, it's Neltor Boulevard in West Chicago after another stint as just Route 59.  Then switches names once again to Sutton Road.  Further north, the name is Dundee Road in Barrington. Then we have Hawthorne Road, also in Barrington before it finally merges with Hough Street in Barrington.  Between Barrington and I-55, it's all one road. That's seven names, eight if you consider "Route 59" as a street name as well (it is used for addresses in Aurora, Naperville, and Joliet).

I was thinking about this same exact route when I saw this thread lol

Richmond actually does have one street with 4 different names on it (all within city limits of course but with no hard turns) and carries US 1/301. From north to south the street is named Chamberlayne Ave, Belvidere St, Cowadin Ave and Jeff Davis Hwy

MA 9 through Amherst, MA: Northampton Rd, College St, Belchertown Rd.

Although somewhat confusing, I've always been amused by the New England road naming convention where roads are named after the town to which they are headed (e.g., Northampton Rd = Road to Northampton from Amherst; same with Belchertown; Pelham Rd in Amherst turns into Amherst Rd in Pelham, etc.).  Evidently, no one thought anyone would be making a return trip.
