I liked the county highway markers posted by San Juan County, UT, so I took a picture of one.  They're all over the place.  This is the one I happened to photograph:

I'll start us on 255.  256 is the lowest number I don't yet have represented in my collection, so I'll be back for 257.

Here's an error US 255 in Boyce, Virginia.  July 4, 2006.

All of my other 255 pictures are of I-255.  Here's one, from Illinois.  July 22, 2005.

What's up with those slatted signs?  I've only ever seen them in Alabama...I-165 has a bunch as well.  What are their advantages, and how are they constructed?

I'm not sure about the "why", but perhaps the slats make it easier to change the demountable copy, or they can "absorb" wind gusts.

On the other hand, they probably do not survive impact damage too well, due to their complexity.

Someone posted a few examples in Delaware, but otherwise, I've only seen them in Alabama. There's a few left on I-20 in the Birmingham area, and along I-65 and I-10 around Baldwin County and Mobile. Memorial Parkway in Huntsville also has a handful of slatted signs.

Let's move on to 258 to keep the game moving. Unfortunately, I don't have anything to share until 260.

Here's a US 258 in Half Moon, North Carolina.  November 14, 2010.

Everything else I have is also US 258, though this one's a By-Pass route, so I'll throw it in.  Kinston, North Carolina.  November 14, 2010.

Oddly that is up next for me with 260 also.  Weird thing was that I didn't encounter really anything topical aside from one GA 251 shield out 798 I took on this trip down in the Southeast.  I have a crap ton of stuff for the high 200s and pretty much the entirety of the 300s now.  So with that in mind more backtracks starting with FL 20:

Which FINALLY ends stuff from my US 98 album, up next is FL 73 on the trip from Destin to US 129 in North Carolina:
