I'm building a spreadsheet of my inventory, and I just realized that I haven't posted numbers from a recent trip to Mississippi either. So now I have three trips to catch up on.

I need to do this too, as I have a lot of new pictures for numbers played long ago too. I know I've posted a few of them in here but I have no idea which ones. Going through this thread to do that will be a daunting task, too...

Since we were talking about this in another thread anyway, I'll mention that route sign photos are easy to pick out for these challenges if you name your Flickr photos the way I do and sort alphabetically in Organizr.  At the very least, I recommend starting your filenames with the state and then by the route number featured in the photo.  Since it's appropriate for this thread, I'll throw in some examples of Utah photos that certainly haven't been posted here yet.

I went back and organized all my shield pics as part of when I organized all my photos to upload on Flickr.  Generally the convention I go by is sorting them by year and giving file names like this so they are in order:

Example

1USa
2CAa
2CAb
2USa
3MIa
4Ia
5Ia

Basically the designations I use after the numeral would be something like "US" for US Route, "I" for Interstate, and whatever the two letters of the state are.  The letter on the back is what really sorts them in order, say I get up to something like 98USz like I did in on my Southeast trip the next photo would be 98USAa.  Apparently I'm up to 2,237 shield photos out of the 33,622 I have in stock.  I'm really big on sorting things by folders to make it easier to reference, there is 19 for shield pics and 980 overall.

Why does the I-70 BL not count toward the file name in that picture (going off of your post in the thread I created )?

By the way, I really like the way you do your naming. I might eventually use something similar once I get the ambition to go through them all. I've experimented with a few different methods and none of them were as simple and elegant as yours–I was probably trying to do too much with mine.

Apparently it works with my system also, got this when I searched "66US" in my photos:

Learn something new everyday I suppose, I'm still getting used to Flickr myself.

I don't expect you to follow my methods down to the last detail, but the basic format of State-Route Shown-Intersecting Route works great for me imo.  Do what works for you!  I didn't show BL-70 because I only care about the UT-19 sign.  There's no technical reason for it; it's just personal preference.  (I secretly wish Interstate Business Loops and Business Spurs didn't exist.)

I have an album specifically for number shields, and am going  through it sequentially to build my spreadsheet. However, I also have a queue of content that I need to process (extracting still images from dashcam movies, cropping and adjustments, etc.) before I upload it to Flickr.
