Named but not signed highways

In Boone, NC, Hwy 105 goes down and around town to the south. There is an offshoot road that serves as a connector between NC 105 and US 321/421. This road is named "NC Hwy 105 Bypass". It has no signage or banners other than street blades. In my opinion, this should at least be named "NC 105 Spur". I always found it odd that it was named but not signed like a normal bypass route.

In Preston, CT, there is SR 605, aka the Old Shetucket Turnpike, near the CT 164/165 intersection. It's an unsigned state-maintained "secret" route, nothing remarkable.

However, locals call it "Route 165A", a designation that has never existed in state records, and is not found on online maps. Business pages, real estate listings, and the occasional newspaper article (example) refer to Route 165A. If the designation was real, it would be signed.

The Route 85 connector in Marlborough and Hudson, Massachusetts, after I-290 ends, is not signed with any route shields, as far as I know.

Unsigned NJ 76C is a short freeway connecting I-76, I-676, US 130, and NJ 168. It is treated as a long exit ramp from the interstates (i.e. the exit signage says "US 130", not "TO US 130"), but as an unnamed entity (i.e. "TO 76/676") from the non-freeways.

I don't believe the NJ Turnpike Pennsylvania Extension (or Pearl Harbor or whatever) is signed as anything other than (TO) NJ Turnpike and (TO) I-276. I assume it will be signed as I-95 once it gets that designation.

Love that the newspaper article even cites an address of "19 Route 165A" for the location in question. Talk about just making it up as you go along.

The Whitehead Highway in Downtown Hartford.  Once planned as part of an I-484 from I-84 Exit 48 to I-91 Exit 29A, it is SR 598.  Also, the Connecticut Turnpike stub from I-395 to US 6 at the RI border.  There was an accident on that stretch one night, and the news anchor referred to it as Route 695, despite not being signed as such.

NJ 81 is not signed.  Its TO I-95 & NJ Turnpike at the US 1 & 9 end and from Exit 13 off the NJ Turnpike it is just signed with the Newark Airport and Elizabeth Seaport.

I do not know if the OSR in Texas counts as its named, but shielded as if it were numbered but has no number.

More than a few in British Columbia:

- the Fraser Highway, between Surrey and Abbotsford. Was previously BC-1A (designation removed in 2006).
- the Barnett Highway between Vancouver and Coquitlam. Was previously Hwy BC-7A (designation removed in 2006).
- the Steveston Highway between Hwy 99 and the city of Steveston. Was never provincially designated, as far as I know.
- the Dollarton Highway between Hwy 1 and Dollarton. Also never provincially designated, as far as I know.

In Washington State (a state with not very many named state highways)...

- the name "Pacific Highway" continues to be used for former portions of US-99 (that did not become WA-99), west of Fife and south of Lakewood.
- the Sumner Buckley Highway, Buckley Tapps Highway, and Sumner Tapps Highway are names all used for rural Pierce County roads that are not state-designated.

Are we talking about highways that have a name but no number, like Peña Blvd in Denver or Summerlin Parkway in Vegas? Or are we talking about highways that are numbered but this number isn't signed, like I-444 or I-315?

AL Highway 20 in Huntsville, AL is one example. Much of the road(s) with that named were originally part of AL 20, but the city hasn't changed the street names ever since AL 20 was truncated to the west end of I-565. The current roads with the name are the part of Madison Boulevard that's in Huntsville's city limits, and the frontage roads along I-565 in Limestone County, even though the northern one wasn't ever part of AL 20 (as far as I can tell).
