Texas hasn't had a state highway numbered 1928 for decades.  KY-1928 was only 300 yards long in Lexington, and it was decommissioned a little over a year ago.  Perhaps HB got a picture of a shield before the route was decommissioned?

I had to google KY 1928. That was the Jefferson Street Viaduct, and to my knowledge was never signed.
Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

There's a sad-looking DeKalb County 1928 shield near Rainsville, Alabama.  Street View is over 10 years old, so it's questionable.

I'm in Canada for the next two weeks, so someone else will have to scout for it.

kphoger

Other than some old lettings for federal-aid secondary routes numbered 1928, I coming up blank on this number–except for that DeKalb County one.

I'll wait to see if any of our Southeast members can get it but GSV is eligible now.

That's roughly a 6-hour round trip for me. Could possibly be able to swing that. Definitely no earlier than Sunday.

kphoger

I believe this would be the first time GSV were required in the history of the game.  In my opinion, the game is actually over if we can't come up with something other than GSV.  I know it's allowable in the OP rules, but y'all know my take on it.

Wonder if there is a Virginia secondary route, North Carolina "white" route, or Pennsylvania SR numbered 1928?

Virginia and North Carolina are the best bets for non-GSV.  In the past I've done extensive searching with so-so results...I'll take a look tonight.

Pennsylvania SR numbered 1928?

Precedent (forget which number) says those are not allowed, as they are not shields.

Pennsylvania is still in play, by the way. You can use the 4-digit county routes  ;-)

Quote from: 1 on December 23, 2016, 08:38:15 PM
Those are secondary state routes, not county routes.

Quote from: empirestate on December 24, 2016, 01:28:57 AM
Quadrant routes, as they're called. Their numbering system is based by county, but yes, they're state roads.

Quote from: vdeane on December 24, 2016, 03:30:44 PM
Of course, those numbers aren't posted, so we'd need a rule change to allow reference markers.

It has been well over 48 hours
formulanone, that is not far from you.  Any chance you could swing by to get an official non-GSV pic?

It will be Monday, at the soonest; my weekend is booked solid. If anyone else can post it by Sunday night, that's also okay. I'll be down that way on Monday morning, unless my travel plans change.

I hate to see the chain broken after almost three years, but the rules were codified in the first post (unless Paul wants to reset the rules).

paulthemapguy

An original photo for 1928 would be ideal, and it would make what we've achieved more distinctive, I feel.  If you look at rule 4, it allows a GSV to be posted if we're stuck for 48 hours.  But I like what you guys seem to have agreed upon--let's see if that original photo can be accomplished before we move on, if that sounds okay.
Avatar is the last interesting highway I clinched.

DeKalb County Road 1928, as of this morning:

The sign looks less ugly, but just as generic. Unlike Street View, it was located on the opposite side of the street.
