Burger King to deliver to LA drivers stuck in traffic

Since California allows "lane splitting" (driving along the dashed line between lanes) by motorcyclists, Burger King is going to begin deliveries of limited menu items to motorists stuck in traffic in the Los Angeles area.  Motorists will be able to order from a BK app, which will route the order to a BK location within a 1.9-mile radius.  No word on what happens if traffic actually begins moving before your Whopper is delivered, although the delivery cyclists will be able to track the your vehicle with GPS.

If you have a sun roof, maybe they can deliver food to moving vehicles by drone or cannon.

Hell I'd order something if I was still working in the area.

Good luck actually doing that. :pan:

If they splat your car, you still have to pay for the burger.

Always seemed to work out for the Cannon Travel Agency:

BK is probably my last choice for fast food. I'll take Wendy's or McDonald's first.

In any event it seems like these places were faster in my youth. I don't mind if the burgers been under a heat lamp as long as I get it quicker. When I eat this stuff, it isn't for a gourmet experience. It's all about convenience.

So does this mean the rider will have a saddlebag of Whoppers?

I've always been okay on BK over McDonalds, Wendy's does have a better line up.   I used to really like BK's fries and their tenders before they got changed up.  The best thing they got going these days is there breakfast biscuits and sausage.

Everyone has a different preference for taste, but I am pretty sure than McDonalds is healthier than Burger King and Wendy's because McDonald's received the most backlash about unhealthy food, forcing them to change.

"Health" factors aren't as important to me as quality, and Wendy's is a lot more authentic than McD or BK (IMO).

Yes, the only issues I have with Wendy's is the Single's appearance. the patty is square and the bun is shiny.

While they did, I believe all the fast food restaurants tried to improve as they all wanted to sound heathier to the general public.  BK for instance has changed their fry recipe several times.  I read once that the Veggie Whopper only exists to make them "veto-proof": If a family is looking for a place to grab lunch and someone's a vegetarian, they have a burger for that person.  A restaurant may go thru 300 Whoppers in a day, but just 3 Veggie-Whoppers.  But it gets families in the store.

I think they've all gotten to the point now where they know its the loud minority that pushes for change, even though they will never go to the restaurant regardless of the changes made.  Their core customer group has trended towards wanting value over healthy options, which is where they are pressing now.

McDonald's Cheeseburger = 300 Cal / 12 g total fat / 0.5 g trans fat / 33 g total carbs

Burger King Cheeseburger = 280 Cal / 13 g total fat / 0.5 g trans fat / 27 g total carbs

Wendy's Dave's Single = 570 Cal / 34 g total fat / 1.5 g trans fat / 40 g total carbs

Uhh... yeah, that just proved my point. I feel a lot better about eating Wendy's than the other two, because I know it's actual real hamburger from an actual cow, and I also know they haven't used fake ingredients and taken a bunch of sketchy measures to cut the calorie count. In short, it's real food.

This also proves that McDonalds and BK are much more comparable, while Wendy's is different.

Standard hamburger/cheeseburger beef patties at McDonald's are 1.6 ounces (10 to the pound).  Burger King is about the same, perhaps slightly weightier.  Wendy's single patty is four ounces.  That alone throws off the comparison.

I go back to the days when McDonalds cooked their fries in beef tallow ...  Maybe that's why they used to be so good.  Beef tallow ... mmm ...

Nowadays I would prefer Wendy's of those three - although Chik-Fil-A and Hardees trumps those three, or regional chains like Roy Rogers or Zaxby's.

Delivery services like these highlight just how helpful transport-by-motorcycle is, in most places outside the US (excl. CA).

This is also basically comparing McD's and BK's dollar cheeseburger to Wendy's signature burger.  One would need to compare Wendy's dollar burger to the other two, or the Quarter Pounder and Whopper to Wendy's Dave's Single for a true comparison.

One of the main reasons I prefer Wendy's (and not by THAT much) is that I can get chili instead of fries if I get a combo meal  (A spicy chicken sandwich combo with chili substituted is one of my regular jams)

Though I do try to not eat fast food in general all that often.
I don't have opinions anymore. All I know is that no one is better than anyone else, and everyone is the best at everything

How does the nutritional value of a cheeseburger tell you anything about where the ingredients are sourced?

Pretty much irrelevant in the light of the updated info.

In any case, if you add up the calories of each individual generic component and the sum is much higher than the calorie count of the burger, that tells you they've done some things to deflate the amount of calories.

You have some numbers to back that up?

But please, do explain to me how calorie count is in any way indicative of origin. I want to know, so that next time I go to the store, when I look at a box of burger patties and see the calorie count, I can know exactly where it came from and what the factory did to it. Same for the cheese, or the bun.
