LSU has developed a new "bendable" concrete

Engineered Cementitious Composites have been around for a few decades, they offer much higher ductility than regular concrete, but due to cost, they have not seen widespread use. But now Louisiana State University has announced a
breakthrough. By using Sugarcane Bagasse Ash instead of fine river sand, they have significantly lowered the cost without compromising its strength.
