Note: The above are NOT former McDonald's but yet, there is no thread about former locations of major fast food restaurants. I apologize for the inconvenience.

You can tell that one was converted from a mansard roof one rather than being a full teardown and rebuild FWIW.

A rarity in McDonaldland.

McDonald's at Stonestown in San Francisco, which has been there since the early 90s, suddenly closing:

A misuse of "suddenly".  The article said they couldn't negotiate a new lease, and employees have already been offered and accepted positions at other stores.  So it's been a known closure to those that needed to know.

There was a former McDonald's at the corner of Geatan-Boucher Blvd and Payer Blvd in St-Hubert near Montreal (now amalgated to Longueuil) who closed in the late 1990s. It's now replaced by Salvatore restaurant and Desjardins credit union.

Not surprised McD's would be almost as reactionary as Walmart in finding new prime locations for stores.

But Burger King lagged massively in Russellville, AR after building a store opposite a Wally World that moved in less than 3 years. At the time there was one McD's, two BKs and one Feltner's Whatta-Burger in Russtown.

Here another former McDo in Montreal at the corner of Papineau Street and Mont-Royal Avenue.

Might have posted this earlier in the thread, but remembered it again:

the McDonald's on Ayala Avenue near VA Rufino Street in Makati, which has been a RCBC bank branch for at least 4 years now:

2019 when it was last a McD (and the store next door at the time was 7-Eleven; that convenience store closed and was replaced with a Goldilocks restaurant)

Across the street is another McDonald's location that was there in 2018:

It became a Watsons pharmacy the next year, which it still is:

Became a local restaurant "Hungry Birds" a year later:

Quote from: ErmineNotyours on August 21, 2020, 03:59:12 PMUniversity District, Seattle.  Since remodeled, though for a while the door still had the distinctive McDonald's handles.  Also simply went out of business, but with foot traffic like this I can't understand why.

I remember the University District McDonald's.  There are many, many choices for food there.  McDonald's was both kind of on the expensive side compared to what else is around, plus a lot of the people on the ave were looking for more interesting places to eat.

This used car dealership in Newark, OH was a McDonald's. The glass enclosure at the front was a PlayPlace (indoor playground). The building has been added on to, but the original building can still be seen sticking out the back. It was replaced by a new location on 21st Street when Walmart opened there.

On the other side of town, another used car dealership, this one less heavily modified. Its replacement is visible to the north.

In Buckeye Lake, this old McDonald's has been spruced up recently, but for many years it was covered in overgrown vegetation and still painted in McDonald's colors. Its replacement is to the northwest, in a location that's much more visible from the I-70 exit.

Max Rockatansky

There was a McDonalds at the southeast corner of Clovis Avenue and Ashlan Avenue in Clovis that just underwent a remodel.  The building never reopened and was demolished this past week.  I'm not sure what happened but all the McDonald's adjacent signage is now gone.

Gotta love it when a Walmart opens and sucks the economy into its orbit. All other businesses get taxed by the Walmart in moving costs.

Dirt Roads

I thought that someone had already posted this one, but this former McDonald's store on Hillsborough Road in Durham was relocated about a half-mile west of here on the other side of the US-15/US-501 Western Bypass interchange at least 10 years ago.  It's been through a few iterations since then, but is now happy as an Enterprise rental agency.

This one isn't closed yet but it would be soon a former McDo stand and it still got the old school style.

If the holdouts were all in New Jersey it was probably one franchisee refusing to be bullied to spend millions of dollars to build a bunch of generic-looking ones.
