The lane control arrows on CR 514 West and I-95 are not placed correctly over the proper lanes. Plus the pull through US Left 3 Lanes is definitely not needed.

Can we also mention the gantry right behind this one?
https://maps.app.goo.gl/ovqzWgsZfL6nAQPYA
The black text being wrapped all around the arrow is something to behold.

Yeah that one too is awful.

I lived once not to far from that interchange in Fords, and remember that the signage there used to be fine.

Now the gantry that was on WB CR 514 at the I-287 ramp is gone and has been per GSV for a long while. You figure they would have included its replacement as part of the project that added these signs. The two aforementioned were part of a 2022 complete replacement along Route 440 from the Outerbridge Crossing to the NJ Turnpike.

NJ's current philosophy on guide signs seems to be the more shields and text crammed onto each gantry, the better. Someone needs to explain to them that you can only process a limited amount of information while driving at highway speed.

There's a similar sign on I-39 in Wisconsin south of Plover, though that one's due to a crop dusting operation in the area: https://maps.app.goo.gl/CnzvR683LWGsBG4LA

Incidentally, that same crop dusting operation is the reason for the famous "Watch for Low Flying Planes" sign, which I'm surprised hasn't been posted in this thread yet. I've seen the planes in action a couple times while driving that stretch.

I'll offer this in the "odd" category for an example of 3 different styles of New York marking the entrance to a jurisdiction all in one assembly.  And a bonus extra tab at the bottom in some weird font.  This is on New York 812 South, taken July 9, 2024.

Stuff like that is common at county or town lines in NY.  All upper, mixed, whichever font was most convenient...  Three varieties is impressive, though.

At at the line, isn't it New York state policy to have the small green number grid there as the jurisdiction change causes the info on the sign to change?

That "ZONING PERMIT REQUIRED" sign reminded me of driving around Pennsylvania, you would often see signs that just said "PERMIT REQUIRED", without any clarification on what activities or conditions would necessitate a permit. Do I need a permit? (It's a black-on-white sign, so presumably so.) Where do I get one?

I'd like to know the rationale for posting such signs at town borders.  Is there a concern that a passing motorist is going to stop and erect a 10-storey office building in the middle of Farmer Bob's bean field?

This sign to me appears that I-95 and the NJ Turnpike are eastbound.  In fact North Avenue EAST heads TO I-95/ NJT and needs the extra header.  Also both directions of North Avenue need to be upper case.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

There are certain semi loads that, due to size or type of material being transported, require a permit. And the age of the town may mean that some roads were initially constructed pre-motor vehicle.
Welcome to Breezewood, PA... the parking lot between I-70 and I-70.

Here's another one that appears to be unique to Oregon, also in the Pendleton area: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Q5dPV5RbqU1YzTx88

Interstate 84 eastbound, shortly after milepost 205.

The truck can't *legally* get to that ramp without passing the other signage (or have just ascended the mountain)

Just past the final warning they have this.

On Interstate 84 westbound in Union County, Oregon, just past milepost 267: https://maps.app.goo.gl/m6Kk6xUXpRaAQvhAA

Near La Grande. ODOT seems to have reused the sign, as seen from the changes in earlier captures.

2007: https://maps.app.goo.gl/E9wj1YqU8kTJUt8o7
2012: https://maps.app.goo.gl/TAi91bNW5r4bzsSA9
2015: https://maps.app.goo.gl/rkEHLyV7PUbuBSyc7

The last one is the same as it is currently, but the previous location is more visible as the sign was in better condition then.

Eastbound side, just past milepost 264, is fine: https://maps.app.goo.gl/2N4Q6dFbeUw7w3z49

Although it went through the same thing with the location peeling.

2007: https://maps.app.goo.gl/qbminQFDdSqsLLwQ9
2012: https://maps.app.goo.gl/mscDRaG1NCQ2MuwN9

The 2015 capture shows an actual new sign made for the change in location shown.

A 1 mile indicator also on pull through I-75 upon entering Tennessee from Georgia.

Plus what happened to US 76 on the exit 1 guide?  That particular route runs concurrent with US 41 through here.

I just discovered a road that goes under a low bridge in Newark, Delaware;
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.6748258,-75.7733688,3a,75y,333.29h,96.6t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sj3lvuM3yRdthVDlEfJW6iQ!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fpanoid%3Dj3lvuM3yRdthVDlEfJW6iQ%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.share%26w%3D900%26h%3D600%26yaw%3D333.2887723369408%26pitch%3D-6.598696675650601%26thumbfov%3D90!7i16384!8i8192?hl=en&coh=205410&entry=ttu
I was going to check the search function and see if there has ever been any mention of Casho Mill Road, but I had too many other things to do on my PC. It almost makes me want to take a detour on a future trip to and from NYC just so I could ride a bike and snap some pictures of the vicinity.

Anybody hear about the landslide in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA? It's been going on for years but has recently accelerated, resulting in a lot of damaged neighborhoods and roads.

It's also lead to some unique signage on Palos Verdes Drive:

Some detour signage for PA 18 in West Middlesex (https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10220671726583578&set=a.10220671919548402)

This is for PA 18 and not an interstate so I am unsure why PennDOT went the colored route here.
