Attended the virtual public meeting today. As expected, I heard comments/questions about how the project is not going to solve traffic problems/why spend this much money on fixing the freeway instead of on transit/express lanes' effectiveness.

I don't think the staff managed to convince the attendees why HOT lanes are the way to go, but seems like they're dead set on converting the existing HOV lanes to HOT lanes.

Whatever they can do to add more lanes, I'll be in support of. It's so funny how these people claim that more lanes don't fix traffic but it always seems like as soon as you enter Orange County the highways get wider and traffic flows better.

I'm happy with the same number of lanes but with standard shoulders and 12' lanes. It feels sketchy driving at even the speed limit in moderate traffic, especially with a semi on the right.

PS: In all the alternatives, they are adding another lane in both directions on I-605 over I-5 to get rid of that nasty lane drop that's the root of the congestion miles away.

A modernization will definitely definitely be nice. I'm still bitching to Metro about the 710 tunnel. I'm sure they hate my ass by now. I send them an email at least once every other month about it lol

Send them an email supporting Alternative 2 for this project! That's the same number of lanes but upgrading to meet standards alternative.

I support alternative 3 because it adds a lane. I personally think there needs to be more lanes.
