I dislike it to the point where I'm avoiding watching any clips of it so that I don't spoil the new kickoffs for myself before the season actually starts.

I might actually prefer watching USFL or whatever the hell it's called nowadays to preseason. The only bit of preseason that I will likely see is if I watch Hard Knocks and see some footage there.

I used to feel that way and got excited to watch. But when most of the starters play maybe a quarter at most, it's just so hollow.

Once the regular season goes to 18 games, another week will be lost from the preseason, so I think it's fair that each team get one game at home and one on the road. Of course, we will not count the Hall of Fame Game.

If they give him the money he wants that's a big misstep in my opinion. You can't pay the ~9th most valuable player on your team $30+ mil per year. He probably won't get traded, because SF simply doesn't have to trade him right now.

What exactly are they doing with kickoffs now?

XFL rule last year with a few modifications. Kickoff still from 35 yard line, rest of team lines up at opponents 40 yard line. Return player free to go where he wants. Rest of return team lines up at own 35 yard line. Kick must go to the landing zone in bounds between the goal line and own 20 yard line of ball placed in a yard line based on where it landed outside the landing zone. Lined up players may not move until the receiving player touches the ball.

Interesting.  And if the ball lands outside of those limits (like in the end zone)?  Also, no 'onside' kickoffs?   That safety that was scored on a kickoff in a game the past weekend?
