The 2015 Rand McNally loaded up my iPad TODAY (replacing the 2014 edition obviously) - and I didnt have to pay for it :bigass:

Here are a set of changes I've discovered that are painfully obvious both map-wise and coverage wise.  THere may have been some that were there last year that I missed.  Last year RMN seriously cleaned up their act and got much more accurate with what type of road is where.  This seemed to be the same this year.

Also - They've marked construction on the app and surprisingly its quite accurate for the areas I have been to last year (LA area's markings are very consistent with the actual construction for example.)

And now the spoilers...

Alabama
* I-22 marked in Alabama only
* Looks like Florence got it's own inset.
Alaska
* You were expecting a change - go back to Deadhorse because its still called Mt. McKinley :P
Arizona
* Loop 303 marked as freeway along entire route except between US-60 and Happy Valley Pkwy (Though I would surmise the I-10/Loop 303 Interchange is still closed)
* AZ 24 freeway spur to Mesa Airport marked (Loop 202 to Ellsworth Rd)
* Temp 89 is actually MARKED!!!
* City insets shuffled around and squeezed a bit.
Arkansas
* I-49 marked N of Shreveport LA - broken line in AR.  AR-549 not replaced with I-49 yet.
* I-130 road shown open as SR-549
California
* SF/Oak Bay Bridge - West span marked as a non-tolled route.  Makes sense since the access to YBI averts the tolls.
* SF: New Presidio Pkwy is marked, but they don't indicate where the tunnel is. (Its not obvious to the unkeen eye whether it changed).
Colorado
* US-36 Denver to Boulder now Buffalo Hwy (Was Denver Boulder Tpk)
Florida
* I-295 now loops completely around Jacksonville (I think this was not in the 2014 but I am not sure)
Georgia
* GA-400 - you guessed it - marked blue now.
Illinois
* IL-390 marked on Elgin-O'Hare Expressway
* ISHTA's ELE project now marked with broken green
* I-57/I-294 Interchange marked
* Stan Span in St Louis area is marked.
Indiana
* I-69 marked solid or broken from Evansville to Bloomington (broken NE of Scotland Crane)
Kansas
* I think it got a couple more City insets - Salina and Hutchinson.
Louisiana
* I-49 marked N of Shreveport - is broken LA-1 to I-220.  Shreveport inset also shows broken line - just west of US-71 (I think they're guessing ;) )
Maryland
* They re-arranged the city insets and got the entire state on the main map.  Baltimore and its center inset got nerfed hard.
Massachusetts
* Mass Pike now Toll green again west of Lee.
Mississippi
* I-22 NOT marked yet.
* I-269 Memphis bypass marked as broken
Missouri
* Stan Span (See IL)
* I-44 replaced I-70. (I-64/I55 concurrency shown with 2 separate markers lol)
Nevada
* I-580 to CC now marked (Not sure if carried over)
New York
* New stretch of I-86 - Elmira to US-220 to PA invasion marked
North Carolina
* I-295 near Fayetteville marked
* I-795 - though I think that got on 2014's
* Triangle Expy
* More I-74 SE of Winston-Salem and 73 SW of Greensboro - dayum - they can live alone?
* Even more I-74 from Rockingham to I-95 (in pieces might I add)
North Dakota
* Minot get's an inset
Texas
* TX-130 toll road Austin
* I-2, I-69C in McAllen
* I-69 E in CC.
* I-369 W of Texarkana
Virginia
* I-495 Capital Beltway HOT lanes are marked on the map

Illinois
* ISHTA's ELE project now marked with broken green

I'm curious how they show it - does the broken green start at I-290 or just to the west at IL 53?  And does the broken green stop short of O'Hare, go to the west edge, or even include the West Bypass of O'Hare?

Does it have any exit numbers for any of the tollways in Illinois?

SSOWorld

Yes the west O'Hare bypass is there.

No ISHTA Exit #s yet.

Does Texas have the just-completed Chisholm Trail Pkwy / (SH 121 TOLL?) Between Ft Worth and Cleburne?

SSOWorld

no different from last year - it was there in 2014.

For Indiana and Kentucky, the biggest omission is not showing the I-265 east-end bridge project as being under construction.

In Indiana, the 2014 issue showed new roads ahead of them actually being opened. Thus not as many changes as you might think are in there. Here are some changes and errors:

I-69 section 5 (Bloomington to Martinsville) shown as being upgraded (correct)
US 31 in Hamilton County is under construction, but nothing is shown
SR 25 is finally shown as completed (correct)
Decommissionings: all or part of SR 111, SR 203, SR 267, SR 311, and SR 403 (although SR 311 shown on Louisville map)
Decommissionings not shown: SR 43, SR 126, SR 443, and SR 526 in Lafayette and SR 238 (still!!)
I-164 is shown as such instead of I-69
US 24 re-route to north side in Fort Wayne not shown
No exit numbers on US 31 Kokomo

Overall, better than years before 2014 edition.

Noticed that I had the update available for my work iPad Air, which uses iOS 7, but none available for my personal first-generation iPad, which is running on some older flavor of iOS (think it's a 6.x but I'm not sure). Wonder if the new update is going to require a newer iOS?

Did they show the new gap of A-30 for the Montreal, Quebec inset going from A-15 to A-20 and TCH-40 at Dorion-Vaudreuil?

Florence, AL; Hutchinson, KS & Salina, KS have had insets for years now.
Minot, ND might have been new last year.

Can you elaborate on your adjective "nerfed" in reference to Baltimore?  The hell does that mean?

He probably meant that it has a much less zoomed in scale, so it's harder to see the individual streets.

In the context it's used in, I'm guessing it means that the city map that Baltimore used to have in the previous editions has now become significantly less detailed.

Nerfed usually means to be changed in a negative way. I can't think of any other way to describe it, even though I use it heavily day-to-day.

Wait. So this is shown as being a limited access freeway (blue line)? How is that correct? SR 37 still has intersections. And it's not I-69 yet. I might have misread your quote so let me know.

It is shown with the yellowish highlight color indicating construction, not shown as a freeway. This is the correct marking.

Of course US 31 south of South Bend has been shown as freeway since the 2014 edition even though it opens late this year.

Minot, ND might have been new last year.

Minot is indeed in the '14 atlas, but it does not show the short US 2/52 freeway on the south side of town or any of the interchanges.

Mixture of Interchanges and at-grades.  Also I looked at the context of I-69 from a future standpoint.  You are correct that it is not designated as such now.  Most of the route outside a bypass of Bloomington is still chock full of at-grades (by my assumption since I haven't driven it yet :-D )

According to my children, 19 & 13, "nerfed" refers to taking something and making it easier or simpler, or removing attributes from it.

Their examples were weapons in video games like Call Of Duty or Borderlands, where a game update resulted in several of their favorite strategic weapons being "nerfed" and made not as effective or with less of a "bonus" and therefore no longer desirable.
