Hm.  That was posted somewhere recently.

I've seen too many cars turn left into the off-ramp from 309 at that intersection (i.e., headed into one-way opposing traffic).  It's a good project.

I believe I-81 in District 4 has reopened.

In the meantime, add PA 14 to the long-term closures list.

Trucks trying to take PA 225 instead of PA 147 are now supposed to go to Sunbury and turn south.  We will see how that goes.

Hwy 61 Revisited

District 4 News - PA 115 Bridge Replacement over I-81

Reportedly construction has already started, and thank God--they're gonna finally add that missing movement that got cut off when the NCVE got built!

And you may ask yourself, where does that highway go to?

What am I missing that the detour route is exit 2 rather than exit 1? The latter seems more direct.

(New here, so sorry if this is long)

I was recently driving to South Philly, and had a question about signage on 95 north. As someone who grew up in the northwest suburbs, the typical route to South Philly was 76 west --> 476 south --> 95 north (or usually backroads to get to 476 south). But when on 95 north at the airport, I always noticed that for Exit 13 (PA 291 TO 76 WEST), the control city is Valley Forge (https://www.google.com/maps/@39.8797925,-75.247688,3a,75y,43.3h,90.68t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sSvDsnMt-0_3tTTyZJqpRmw!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fcb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile%26w%3D900%26h%3D600%26pitch%3D-0.6827770223153635%26panoid%3DSvDsnMt-0_3tTTyZJqpRmw%26yaw%3D43.30499537526616!7i16384!8i8192?coh=205410&entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI0MDgyMC4xIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D).

I always wondered why they thought someone coming from the airport would take 95 north --> 76 west to get to Valley Forge, when 95 south --> 476 north --> 76 west would seem quicker. I have realized though that these signs were probably put in before the Blue Route existed, and even though I'm pretty sure this part of 95 near the airport wasn't built until the 80s, I suppose they weren't sure that the Blue Route would even be completed back then, so heading away from Valley Forge and up through the city on 76 was the best way to get to Valley Forge.

I know there have been some discussions over control cities here, so I wondered, now that we do have the Blue Route, it poses the question of what the best control city is for that sign. I originally thought North or Central Philly, but 95 already passes through those areas. I suppose maybe West Philly or University City, although I have never seen them use those as control cities before.

I guess District 8 backed off on closing left turns from US 22/US 322 WB to PA 849 WB.

Interesting.  Seems like that left turn is the heaviest and most hazardous one on that stretch, given the curve on 22/322.  I think EB (opposing) traffic tends to speed up getting on the bridge after clearing the businesses. I have not been up there in a while, but that is what I recall in that area.

I wouldn't call it the busiest left turn, but it is definitely a surprise when speeding up for the Clarks Ferry Bridge. There isn't an easy way to fix this without closing the left turn because of the Juniata River Bridge + some shops, but in my experience it's way easier to go through Duncannon to PA 849 instead of risking the left turn there.

I think there should be a PA 849 interchange on US 11/15, then you could justify closing the left turn.
Pleased to meet you

(For PA 147)  PennDOT - District 8 News: Route 147 in Reed Township, Dauphin County, is Open to Traffic

I realized earlier that PA 58, PA 158, and PA 258 all cross I-80 somewhat near each other without an interchange.

PA 58 also crosses I-79 without an interchange.  PA 258 has an interchange with I-79 while concurrent with PA 208.

I saw on GSV PennDOT had a widening project on I-78 in Krumsville in 2018.

I take that part of I-78 is been brought finally to interstate standards after being substandard for many decades.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.
