Is "USE" as an Interstate banner in the MUTCD? I couldn't find it, but maybe I missed it.

I was looking at Google Street View of a seafood shack in New Zealand I read about the other day and noted that just past it on the road there is this interesting "Caution Seals" warning sign. Doubt there's a sign like that anywhere in North America.

—Olaf Kolzig, as quoted in the Washington Times on March 28, 2003,
commenting on the Capitals clinching a playoff spot.

"That sounded stupid, didn't it?"

But...that's a drawing of a sea lion, not a seal.

Hey, I didn't specify which prong of this thread's subject line applies, so you are more than welcome to draw your own conclusions!  :D

Strange exit number location. Usually GDOT does what IDOT does and puts it inside a rectangle at the top. In fact other signs at this interchange do have it that way, but this one.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

I know on a BGS that "USE" is acceptable. I don't know about that banner.

"Route Fwy CA-1" - https://maps.app.goo.gl/nEm6phCKnHGveyEVA
On the other side, it says "CA-1 Route Fwy", which is only a little better.

(No, it's not named the "Route Freeway")

"Route" would seem to be superfluous. "Fwy" at least carries some descriptive info.

"Route [CA 1] Fwy" would make more sense if they wanted to have "route" there at all.

I think? the reason for the SECOND RIGHT in EXIT ONLY livery is because that exit does indeed have an EXIT ONLY lane, but it still looks weird. The font metrics don't help.
