Here's an unusual one:

US-99 was decomissioned in 1964, but eventually signed as an "historic" route. At the very southern end of it in Calexico CA, it looks like they preserved the original sign, or created a very good facsimile. This is an old pic, but it looks like it's still there:

Oh, I like the reflection in the puddle.

It is an erroneous END Sign since VA 189 continues east on an useless multiplex with US 58 to the Holland area in Suffolk.  (https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10221483990849677&set=a.10221484172214211)

This is supposed to be END I-205 near Manteca, and the END banner is still there, but the Interstate shield has been missing since at least 2012 (it does appear in Google Maps' 2007 image).

END signs are fairly uncommon in Oregon, but there are a few, starting with two US Route END signs:

Sadly, there is no Newport counterpart for the END US 20 in Boston.

A few state highway END signs:

Some more from Washington:

WA 409 ends at the Wauna Ferry dock on the Columbia River.  Also, this was the end of the northern segment of WA 501 in Ridgefield, but this part of 501 was recently relinquished by WSDOT:

Interesting variations in the END SPUR signage, but my favourite is the END WA 409 200 FT. They couldn't just post that at the end of the dock? ;)

506 and 508 are the first Washington end assemblies I've seen use a placard instead of a uni-sign.

Yeah, not sure what's going on there. Maybe WSDOT didn't want to add to the sign clutter up ahead at the dock. Still, the "200 FT" seems pointlessly specific.

I grew up not far from there, and I can attest that it's pretty likely one or more of the locals have taken that plunge over the years.

My photos of those are from 2005. I just looked them up on GSV, and it seems both have since been replaced with uni-signs. Uniformity wins again!

Here are a few I have from (mostly) northern California.  Hopefully, I'm not duplicating any already posted here, but I'm far too lazy to scroll through 23 pages to find out.

ID 52 here is about to cross the Snake River into Oregon. So I guess because ID 52 technically ends in the middle of the bridge, they felt the need to indicate the actual end was still ahead?

The route carries on as OR 52 across the bridge, but that ends just 1.6 miles later at its junction with OR 201. I posted that END sign back in the Oregon bunch.
