You can now go back in time if the location had old StreetView imagery.  Very helpful when you want a picture of an old road sign. :bigass:

Unfortunately, it only works if you are a regular user of the new Google Maps. No availability in classic Google Maps.

I've found that IE displays the new Google Maps without much (or any, really) problems.

They said take a left at the fork in the road.  I didn't think they literally meant a fork, until plain as day, there was a fork sticking out of the road at a junction.
