After a cool weekend, where our temperatures dipped below average, our Thanksgiving conditions will rise back above normal again.  Winds coming from the south will keep our Dew Points hanging around 70 degrees along the coast and so the afternoon heat index could reach the mid 90s, but will fall short of triple-digits.

                                  ACTUAL                            AVERAGE
BROWNSVILLE:      88 high; 72 low                  79 high; 60 low
CORPUS CHRISTI:  88 high; 63 low                  76 high; 58 low
LAREDO:                85 high; 61 low                  77 high; 56 low
MCALLEN:              90 high; 66 low                  78 high; 59 low

We had a cold front come through last night, which we'll feel for the next week.

Similar here. My phone says it's 35° and feels like 16° due to 18-mph winds gusting to 39 mph. The window screens are rattling in the frames and I heard something on someone's deck fall over a few minutes ago. Makes me glad today is not trash day in our neighborhood because when it's windy, stuff like leaves and stray trash tends to blow into our front yard and some of our neighbors are either too lazy or too stupid to put their trash out properly.

Edited to add: DCA had a 55-mph wind gust earlier.

At the beginning of this month, our lows in Corpus Christi dropped down to 40s for the first time since February.  Our usual winter rollercoaster is taking form:  After Thanksgiving highs in the 80s, our highs last week took a nose-dive below average only topping out around 60 degrees, followed by a gradual warm-up back above average with high restored back in the 80s (where we are today), then another cold front will plunge our highs back down to the 60s later this week, and so on (the pattern will keep repeating like that).  A few places in the RGV area could see their heat index reach 90 degrees this afternoon.

Currently 3C (37F) and overcast. A lot of our snow has melted from yesterday's rain, but it looks like snow will be returning the next few days. I took advantage of the "warm" and dry weather to take my bike to the grocery store.

One of those bizarre mornings where it was basically a blizzard at home, yet clear roads and hardly a trace of snow a few miles away at work. It's lake effect snow, to be sure.... but not from the lake that's just a few miles away.  :)

6 degrees here. Lowest temp of the season so far.

Huge rainstorms in Amherst the last few days, no rain today but there was heavy rain the past 2 days. Wish it was snow.

Currently -9C (17F) and overcast. Today's low is expected to dip to a brisk -17C (1F), but it'll quick warm back up toward zero on the weekend.

I biked to work this morning, and as I was walking my bike outside, someone commented to me, "where's the heater on that thing?"

Nice, I just dropped off my bike downtown to get studded tires. Looking forward to trying them out.

algorerhythms

I stopped at the bike shop on Saturday to get a quote for studded tires, but they told me there were a lot of people getting them and it wouldn't be until Wednesday until they would get to mine, so I ended up waiting.

Then on Wednesday I forgot to bring the bike in to the shop again. So I still haven't gotten it done.

This week, high right around 80°F every day as usual with about 70% of the available sunshine and 30% cloud cover but no rain and mostly gentle wind.  What I was hoping for in mid-December.

That view of Pu'u Ola'i, which is about 360 feet in height, always makes me think of Jimmy Buffett's "Volcano".  I believe it was formed during the most recent eruptions on Maui, around 1790.
