We got more snow and earlier in the day than I thought. I thought the snow wasn't supposed to come until evening.

Leaving Tokyo today (Sunday, 22 December), heading back to Okinawa.

In Tokyo, it has been gloriously sunny. Temperatures have ranged from around 32 to 60 F. It's a reminder for me of how important sun is to feeling warm (infrared radiation), even when it was cold it felt so good in the sun. Managed 70,000+ steps in just three days. Back in Okinawa, we don't get below around 50 F except extremely rare occasions, so I don't think too much about sun affects warmth. But when you go somewhere that is actually cold (below 50 F for me these days), it becomes extremely apparent how important it actually is.

Back in Okinawa, looking at 60 to 70 F, clouds. Bit of a rain around Christmas Day, but warmer.

Currently 12, high of 19. For reference, the lowest high all of last winter was 20, although last winter was very unusual in this regard.

Drought is down from level 3 to level 2 (levels are none, 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4). We got a decent amount of rain that I'm surprised it only dropped by one level.

Well, that would be below freezing, rather than absolutely freezing.

While the rest of America is freezing their [you know what] off, we're still enjoying picture-perfect conditions for the beach or golf course or whatever outdoor activity you fancy.  Sunny to Mostly Sunny skies are prevailing, and temperatures are ranging anywhere from 10 to 16 degrees above average this Holiday season, but still no records are expected to be threatened (much-less broken).  Winds from the Gulf of Mexico will keep us warmer than Cancun for the rest of 2024.  With some tropical air flowing into the Texas coast, dew points along the coastal areas could approach 70 degrees keeping the Heat Index in the upper 80s to as high as 92 degrees in the RGV area.   Merry Christmas Everyone!

1.69 inches of rain fell at my home today starting at 10 AM (just as I put another several bags of leaves), and more rain is coming on Thursday. We need it here in DFW.
