Dammit, Paul, you've created an obsession.  My life is this challenge.  I lay awake nights thinking about possible photos for future dates.  I want to quit my day job and do nothing but love my wife, pet my cat, and pore over maps and through my photo collection to get things lined up for future dates.  Either you're cruel, or I'm pathetic, or both.

Anyway...

Now, Oregon has no actual 3-3 junctions anywhere in the state. But I'm going to take advantage of a technicality so I don't fail the challenge today (like wanderer2575, this has become something of an obsession to me!).

In Dallas, OR 223 (Kings Valley Hwy #191) junctions with Dallas-Rickreall Hwy #189, before continuing north to end on OR 22 just north of town.

Unlike other state-maintained highways that had no corresponding Route, back in 2002-2003, Hwy #189 was not designated as Route 189.  Instead, ODOT now signs Hwy #189 as if it were a branch of OR 223.  To illustrate: here's what the east ends of Hwy #189 look like in Rickreall:

And in Dallas, there's this somewhat ambiguous signage on northbound 223, where the route seemingly goes both North and East from the intersection:

So basically ODOT treats Hwy #189 as if it's SPUR 223, and I have seen it referred to as that in some other sources, even though it is never specifically signed with a SPUR banner.  Thus, I'm going to consider it to be SPUR 223, and call the last photo the junction of OR 223 and SPUR OR 223 for today's submission.  Boom.

If you think this was sketchy, just wait until 4-8 day!

I love to see the implications that you and @wanderer2575, potentially among others, have built lists or databases for this thread. Many roadgeeks are systematizers who love making lists and completing sets, especially ones based on numbers.  I am one of those roadgeeks, and I knew there would be others out there, particularly others who also like taking pictures out on the road. Thank you for participating, as I made this thread for people with brains like yours (and mine)!

Today's goal:
January 28- Post a route ending in 3 meeting another route ending in 3, in your state.

When both digits are the same, it can be difficult to find intersections that fit the bill. If your state likes to create branch routes named after a parent route (e.g. 23 and 223), that can make things easier on the days with repeat digits. Otherwise, it gets tougher. (The hardest day for me in Illinois will be [8,8].)

January 31: Post the junction of a route ending in 3 and a route ending in 6, in your state.

As a bit of foreshadowing, Season 2 will begin on March 1, starting over at [0,0]. The junctions requested will be in your state as well, but the criteria will be to satisfy a pair of tens digits. On March 1, when the requested digits are 0 and 0, a valid post could be something like Route 1 and Route 9, Route 203 and Route 3, or Route 108 and Route 4. The junction of a route number with X in the tens place and a number with Y in the tens place will be requested throughout March and April. Single-digit numbers will be assumed to have a 0 in the tens place.

One other thing I forgot to mention in my rant the other day:  I intend to consciously try not repeating junctions during this challenge, which -- if I were to really let myself go -- gives it a certain Yahtzee-like quality in that many junctions fit into more than one challenge category and I have to decide which one to use.  This is just too much.

Okay...

I had to eventually start thinking ahead.  It was a strain every day to mentally go through Oregon routes ending in one of the numbers to find if it junctioned with a route ending in the other digit, and then if I had a picture of that junction.  It's much easier now that I've thought ahead and uploaded the photos I'll need to Imgur for the next few days beforehand.

I don't know that repeated digit days are any tougher.  There are just two combinations, 3-3 and 4-8, that either don't occur in Oregon or I lacked pictures of.  However, I don't want to admit defeat, so I felt I had to come up with something on those days.

I originally thought there would be more combinations missing here, or that I wouldn't have photos for some.  It was a surprise to me that there were only two.

On to business!

That was my goal! I wanted to create a photo challenge where the criteria were unique and original but not overly strict. There's no point in creating a game like this that's prohibitively difficult.

Today's challenge:
January 29: Post the junction of a route ending in 3 and a route ending in 4 in your state.

Sycamore is where you can find IL-23 and IL-64:
