My latest phone app  Google maps has the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.

My map app won't let me link, but go to your app or the web and it's there

That move made me so mad. One of the worst Executive orders.

I don't think I could call it by another name. It's been the Gulf of Mexico all my life and live 50 miles from it

Same, aside from the distance.
It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

Nothing surprises me anymore.

At first I thought this was a hoax as I thought it takes more than one man to change the name of a geographical body of water.

However, it's not with Google displaying the change.

Which one should get the "Gulf of Canada" moniker: Gulf of Alaska or Gulf of Maine?

I'll probably be dead before I think of it as GoA instead of GoM. Heck, I still have to remind myself what the current name of Saigon is.

EDIT: I wonder what Mexico is going to do about the Gulf of California.

Wouldn't that kind of be counterproductive given Baja California is still a thing?
