It looks like Manila will have another double decked freeway.

Here is the Philippines densest city.

NLEX Candaba Viaduct open. This section reminds me of driving on the Yolo Causeway from Davis to West Sacramento whenever I commuted to Sacramento from my home in Solano County.

Haven't posted about it too much lately but the project to get NLEX Connector finished all the way from Magsaysay Boulevard south to Skyway Stage 3 in the Pandacan district of Manila is well under progress:

The Maria Clara/G. Araneta offramp off northbound Skyway Stage 3 in Quezon City (north of the existing Quezon Avenue interchange that has been a notorious choke point) has finally opened:

Here is a Tour by Pinoy Joyride to start the New Year!

Pinoy Joyride has posted updates regarding the NAIAX and Skyway Stage 3 speed limits, both of which are being increased to 80 kmh (50 MPH) in the near future!
https://visor.ph/traffic/today-naiax-will-officially-have-speed-limit-of-80km-h/

These increases however do not apply to the curved portions of either road.  (NAIAX has several very sharp curves due to the fact that tollway follows the perimeter of the airport property, while Skyway Stage 3 has relatively sharp curves in the run from San Francisco Del Monte to Balintawak (both districts of Quezon City) and a more elongated, gentler set of turns from the Pandacan district of Manila northeastward along the San Juan River towards the SM Centerpoint mall in QC.)

After numerous years of delays, San Miguel Corporation is finally targeting the Southeast Metro Manila Expressway project (SEMME) along the C-6 corridor, hoping to get it completed in the next 24-36 months.  First section planned for completion is a Y interchange between Skyway and the expressway's first kilometer towards the still-waiting-to-be-developed Arca South project.

Prior to this year, the only portion of the route that's been complete is an unconnected viaduct above C-5 just south of BGC.

C-6 would provide essentially a third major belt route for Metro Manila, after the existing C-5 (which NLEX wants to upgrade to a full expressway corridor) and the infamous EDSA/C-4 that has been a bane on local commuters since the 1970s.  Depending on how quickly NLEX's plans for a C-5 expressway come to fruition, SEMME may end up being the first fully limited-access Manila bypass to be built, though with NLEX Connector 90% complete and Skyway Stage 3 entirely finished, it would be the third north-south toll freeway.

Also of note is that the SEMME connection just east of Skyway will provide direct access to BGC (via C-5) from Skyway for the first time ever; commuters from both Manila and Alabang have mostly had to use the older SLEX expressway to reach any of the BGC access points (EDSA to Kalayaan Avenue, C-5, or Lawton Avenue) with only Skyway north having an access point to EDSA.

I don't think they've gotten that far ahead yet, though the wording from the official press release mentions wanting to "optimize toll plazas" and decrease queues:

Skyway is the toll road I've used the most on the two recent Philippine trips I've gone on, and it is a mix of barrier (Alabang, NAIA, Del Monte) and ramp tolls.  I wonder if it'll stay that way once the carriageway continues to be extended north of Caloocan/Balintawak as part of the NALEX corridor to the New Manila International Airport in Bulacan (and even further if all plans go forward).

NLEX Connector currently has one barrier toll plaza at the Espana Boulevard exit complex, and is the first fully cashless toll road in Luzon's entire expressway network.
