Tomorrow is the (9,9) day, then we've finished the chart!  On March 1, we start at (0,0) with a focus on the tens digit of the routes' numbers, rather than the last digit. Photos posted should still be taken in your home state or province.

For now, here's a shot taken along IL-62 where it meets IL-68 and IL-59 in the Barrington Hills area:

That concludes Season 1!  Season 2 will begin at (0,0) on March 1, with a focus on the tens digits of the route numbers. Single-digit numbers will qualify as numbers with a 0 in the tens place. Valid plays will include numbers like 4, 7, 106, 109, 202, 208, etc.

Until March 1, feel free to post any charts, retrospectives, or summaries of route number combinations you've seen or photographed. See the original post for more information.

Here is some of my late homework, since I didn't join the class until 0-9 day.

For 1/1, 0 meets 0, I have US 30 and US 730 near Boardman, followed by OR 70 and OR 140 in Dairy:

For 1/2, 0 meets 1, US 30 and US 101 in Astoria, followed by US 30 and OR 11 in Pendleton:

For 1/3, 0 meets 2, OR 230 and OR 62 in Union Creek, followed by US 20 and OR 22 near Santiam Pass (I think I used this junction on 2-6 day earlier, but this should be a different photo):

More make-up work:

For 1/4, 0 meets 3, I give you US 30 and OR 203 in La Grande, followed by US 20 and OR 223 in Wren:

For 1/5, 0 meets 4, I'll go with the easy pick US 30 and I-84 in Portland (hence the graffiti on the 30 shield):

For 1/6, 0 meets 5, US 30 and OR 35 in Hood River, followed by the brief US 730 and US 395 concurrence in Umatilla:

For 1/7, 0 meets 6, US 20 and US 26 in Nyssa, followed by US 20 and OR 126 at Santiam Jct:

For 1/8, 0 meets 7, US 20 and OR 27 east of Bend, followed by US 30 and OR 37 in Pendleton:

And for 1/9, 0 meets 8, we have US 20 and OR 78 in Burns:

That squares me for my missing days. Now to enjoy a few days off before wracking my brain over tens-digit combos.

Tomorrow is March 1, which means it is the beginning of Season 2! Season 2 will also call for junctions of routes within your home state or province, but the criteria will focus on the tens digit of the route numbers involved. This differs from Season 1, when a route number's eligibility was based on its final (ones) digit. We begin Season 2 on March 1st with the eligible tens digits set at 0 and 0. This means we'll want to see a junction of two separate routes, each with a distinct number with a 0 in the tens place. Eligible numbers will include 1-9, 100-109, 200-209, 300-309, etc. As an example, I'll just tell you what I plan to post tomorrow:

1. Illinois 4 at Illinois 108 in Carlinville.
2. Illinois 100 at Illinois 104 near Meredosia.
3. Illinois 1 at US Route 6 in Harvey.

Here is what the next 14 days will hold:
March 1: Post a junction of a route whose number has a 0 in the tens place meeting another route whose number has a 0 in the tens place.
March 2: Post a junction of a route whose number has a 0 in the tens place meeting a route whose number has a 1 in the tens place.
March 3: Post a junction of a route whose number has a 0 in the tens place meeting a route whose number has a 2 in the tens place.
March 4: Post a junction of a route whose number has a 0 in the tens place meeting a route whose number has a 3 in the tens place.
March 5: Post a junction of a route whose number has a 0 in the tens place meeting a route whose number has a 4 in the tens place.
March 6: Post a junction of a route whose number has a 0 in the tens place meeting a route whose number has a 5 in the tens place.
March 7: Post a junction of a route whose number has a 0 in the tens place meeting a route whose number has a 6 in the tens place.
March 8: Post a junction of a route whose number has a 0 in the tens place meeting a route whose number has a 7 in the tens place.
March 9: Post a junction of a route whose number has a 0 in the tens place meeting a route whose number has a 8 in the tens place.
March 10: Post a junction of a route whose number has a 0 in the tens place meeting a route whose number has a 9 in the tens place.
March 11: Post a junction of a route whose number has a 1 in the tens place meeting another route whose number has a 1 in the tens place.
March 12: Post a junction of a route whose number has a 1 in the tens place meeting a route whose number has a 2 in the tens place.
March 13: Post a junction of a route whose number has a 1 in the tens place meeting a route whose number has a 3 in the tens place.
March 14: Post a junction of a route whose number has a 1 in the tens place meeting a route whose number has a 4 in the tens place.

This will require slightly different thinking than in January and February. Happy posting!

I decided I would deliberately handicap myself to begin round 2, and try to only use routes that have an actual 0 in the tens place, unless it's absolutely necessary to use a single-digit route.  I have little confidence I can stick to this, though.

I also decided that while I'd probably have to re-use junctions I used in round 1, I would at least try to post different photos of those.  Oregon's system of signed routes isn't extensive enough.  As it is, I think I'll have some real problems towards the end of round 2 finding examples of every possible combo.

So with that being said, I'll kick off round 2 with OR 206 and OR 207 in Ruggs:

Alabama only posts 4, 5, and 9 for single-digits; even then, SR 4 tags along US 78 and is erratically posted. US 78 leaves I-22 along with AL 4 to join AL 5, but this is also unposted. While Alabama SR 4 shields can be found along the concurrency of US 78 and I-22, they don't seem to leave the mainline along with AL 5, the best chances for two single-digit routes to posted together in the state.

Where did 4 and 5 go?

...Also, nope.

The other single-digits are used for US 231, US 72, US 31, US 82, US 11, and US 80, respectively. For "x0y" routes, only one has a meetup, 605 and 109.

But...the 109 isn't posted, which is  atypical for ALDOT.

I suppose I can count on Florida to have US 1 and A1A posted together, so here's one matchup in Juno Beach:

There shouldn't be anymore Alabama exceptions from me for rest of this "tens-and-tens" round.
