Wrong thread. Much too sweet.

I suppose they could possibly be underrated if you're rating them as a sweet, but that's not what they're supposed to be.

The sugars in wheat are what give us Hefeweizen. Nothing wrong with some "natural" sweetness. :)

I normally just balance it out with some cured meat and cheese.

Of course, Wheat Thins have added sugar.

Hence the quotes. This Amuricah after all. Everything has added sugar.

Same thing as Wheat Thins: maybe underrated as a sweet, but not as a cracker.

What Chris said about Wheat Thins is true:  the sweetness is easily tempered by some salami or similar meat, or by a savory dip.

But anyway, do you never crave a crunchy snack that's somewhere between a cracker and a sweet?  Neither cracker under discussion is anywhere close to cookie-level sweetness.

Was this a claimed thing with s'mores?  I seem to recall there was an urban legend of similar ilk about the green Skittle.  I don't recall if it supposed raised or lowered male libido.

Graham crackers were invented by a pastor that thought the bland taste would reduce teen boys' need to masturbate.

Interesting, you'd think something with bland taste would more likely have the opposite effect.

It was part of the temperance movement at large. He also advocated avoiding alcohol and being a vegetarian, and he's known as the "Father of Vegetarianism".

Yes, and those influenced by Graham included one John Harvey Kellogg.  You may have heard of some of his products.  He too believed that a "simple, pure and unstimulating diet" would quench man's unwholesome sexual desire.  This is why, for example, Corn Flakes and Grape Nuts are rather bland—and why John had a falling-out with his brother when the latter began selling a product similar to Corn Flakes but with added sugar.

If you've never read about Kellogg and his Battle Creek Sanitarium, then you've missed out on a fascinating slice of American history.  (Teaser:  yogurt isn't just for oral consumption!)

Trying to think of examples, and I'm thoroughly disgusted by pretty much anything that falls on the spectrum between a cracker and a sweet.

Teddy Grahams: blech
Golden Oreos: yuck
Honey Nut Chex Mix: gag

One exception: Trader Joes Trail Mix Crackers.
But even those are hardly sweet, and they pack a punch with other flavors that override the sweetness anyways.

Also: cereals are mostly OK.

Animal crackers might be sweet enough to count as cookies, but the Aldi brand ones are great.

No surprise, I don't care for animal crackers either. Unless they're frosted.

Speaking of which, Dairy Queen's Frosted Animal Cookie Blizzard is 👌
Definitely underrated.

I looked up to see whether his brother's name was Tony. It wasn't. Too bad, that would have been great.
