Every time I try clicking the button, nothing happens.

Search won't let me search. It'll only tell me I searched 5 seconds ago.
If you ever feel useless, remember that CR 504 exists.

Search got broken recently. It's not just you.

Which one are you using? The one up at the top right of the screen or the one next to the orange button that says "Home"? I used the latter last night and it worked reasonably well, though not perfectly (it returned four pages of results for what I entered, though it didn't find the post I think I remember and for which I was seeking—whether that's the search function or my faulty memory, who knows!).

I get a timeout error either way.  No matter which one I use, it returns this:

504 Gateway Time-out / nginx

That's interesting. I just tried it again on my PC (last night I was using my iPad) and it still worked for me. I wonder why it's inconsistent.

I've just gone to using Google for searching on here.

My kingdom for the search function to function again.  Google misses threads.

Also wish those Google search tips for AARoads that were buried in a thread somewhere were stickied...Thought it was Winkler who posted them?

The site's search function works better if you restrict the search with certain criteria.  For example, if you remember who the user is who posted it, then filter by that user.  And any message age range helps it to not error out:  even just setting a range of 3 to 3000 days helps.  It's still not great even then, but it's a little better.
