I wouldn't want to go higher than 90 on that, so I'll say 50.

Incorrect guesses: 50, 60, 70, 80, 90

After reading these guesses, and seeing the quality of that road anyway, I would be remiss if it was any lower than 40 km/h, which is my guess.

ElishaGOtis

I can drive 55 ONLY when it makes sense.

Correct! Maito, Jalisco, Mexico (+ nearest speed sign)

Seems very low (especially as most of the road is 60) but maybe the occasional signs saying "this road is not for high speed" are to be taken seriously.

I mean, I've seen those signs on four-lane divided highways, so...

I'll try to have a picture up sometime in the next 8-9 hours, when I get home from work. If I don't, then that is free reign for someone else to post :bigass:

Yes. This is FL-206 west of I-95 and east of FL-207. https://maps.app.goo.gl/btNKGioaWUFfKrbAA

Not 60...

...anymore :coffee:

To your credit, it WAS 60 until a couple years ago, when apparently it was reduced to 55 after a DOT investigation arising from safety concerns. The design speed of the original roadway was 90km/h (which was apparently something Florida did for a while) and the apparently speed limit was reduced to match this. Not entirely sure what went into the design speed, even after a resurfacing project conducted a few years later.

Added rumble strips and reduced the speed limit... interesting. If it wasn't Florida, I'd say that road should be 65 mph or 70 mph. 55 mph probably doesn't have much compliance.

Rumble strips are now required for all flush-shoulder roadways with a speed limit of 50 or higher in FL, per FDM 210.4.6 (see page 38). https://fdotwww.blob.core.windows.net/sitefinity/docs/default-source/roadway/fdm/2025/2025fdm210arterialscollectors.pdf?sfvrsn=d34bf8d3_1

I will also mention the limit was reduced about a year before the roadway was resurfaced.

From my experience, speeding is kind of an issue here, but not as severe as I would have thought. My guess is that the 85th percentile would probably be in the 63-65-ish range.

What's even funnier is that it probably WAS 65 at one point before 1973, back when that was the default daytime car limit in FL. Not entirely sure but more-likely-than-not.
