Access to NC 295 was open from both directions on I-95 when I drove through there yesterday.

Here's the 1 Mile advance sign on I-95 North, notice the current lack of any control cities, photo courtesy of David Johnson:

A large APL was also put up northbound showing "Fort Liberty / Pope AAF" as a control city, over a closed I-95 roadway (all north and southbound lanes were shifted over to the southbound roadway in this area for construction).

Picture from last week.

I wonder if this is the ultimate sign that will remain covered for a few more years but was prematurely uncovered for that brief period of time.

I was mistaken...the ramp from 95 NB to NC 295 is not open.

The ramps from I-295 South to I-95 North, and from I-95 North to I-295 North have been opened.

Good news, but typical NCDOT proclaiming the I-295 ramps open showing the exit sign with a NC 295 shield.  :-D

Yep, drove through there yesterday and witnessed this, though Google Maps is calling it I-295 as well.  I suppose those shields will quickly be covered up with real I-295 ones once this stub finally connects with the main portion of I-295 at US 401.

The Ghostbuster

They shouldn't be putting up any more NC 295 signs. All signage should have Interstate 295 shields.

It the name really reverting to Fort Bragg commemorating a different solider? I like Bragg name better than Liberty which sounds like a Northern NJ place.

Yes, a WWII paratrooper named Roland L. Bragg.
I don't need a GPS.  I AM the GPS! (for family and friends)
