Well, I grew up 5 minutes from this junction, so is it this one you're talking about?

It wasn't. The one I meant was the junction of US 160 and US 64. You'd made comments before when I'd posted the 160-491 and 160-163 pix. So I figured you were eager to contribute another from that area, and I left you the 160-64 junction that's in between those.

While you didn't go with that, you came pretty close with 550-64 just down the road from there. I had also considered using that one myself, but the picture I had of it wasn't very good.

And like I said earlier, US 30 was my favorite US highway, since I also grew up near it, so I did really  enjoy seeing your 30-34 junction pic. All good!

Regrettably, I don't have a picture of the US160-US64 junction. I had driven through there in 2012, but that was before my route-snapping days.

My 160-163 photo was taken in 2017, right after waking up from a wild glamping experience in Monument Valley. From the campsite along US163, my girlfriend (now wife) and I went south on 163 to 160 east, but just to cut over to 191 south. We didn't see US64 on that trip.

I see. I might as well share a picture of the culprit, then:

On your other point: I've actually been taking a lot of highway photos since 2003, as that was when I first got a digital SLR camera. Before that, I considered them a waste of film. But even after that, I wish I had taken more time to snap highway pictures on my many trips since then.  Most of what I did take were current/historic endpoint shots for Dale Sanderson's usends site.  But I've passed by so many other US junctions that I didn't photograph because they weren't endpoints, and now I regret that.

In my defense: back then I had no idea I'd one day be taking part in the XY Challenge!

The goal of finding the most obscure and rare intersections has two benefits. Working toward that goal creates the most variety and allows more people to play their own unique photos.

I like your photo, xonhulu, I'm very familiar with that spot in front of the USFS office in Carson City.  I know this thread prefers to avoid duplicates, but I'm going to assert Local Privilege, as US 50/US 395 is the closest intersection to where I live that qualifies for today's challenge.

This photo is from July 2017, upon the completion of I-580.  NDOT held a slow-drive/bike/run community event a few days before that segment of I-580 was opened to traffic, so that's when I took this photo, about 3 miles south of xonhulu's location.

Thanks for the compliment.  I picked that one (50-395 in Carson City) mostly for the snowy scene.  Question: is there still a shield assembly in that spot, only now with BUS banners?

I enjoyed seeing your photo, too.  I finally got to drive the entirety of I-580 in March of last year and would've liked to have gotten some pix of signage, but I really couldn't take any safely. You were lucky to get that opportunity before the freeway opened.

We discussed duplicate posting already, and everyone seemed to be fine with it. I personally enjoy seeing different photos of the same junctions or route combinations, and I think in some cases duplication might be inevitable.

Now on to the May 7 festivities:

Given their frequent concurrencies, this pair seems a natural, so I'll give it a bannered twist with US 20 BUS and US 26 in Idaho Falls (photo taken 4/1/2006):

Concurrencies count! Valid junctions include intersections, concurrencies, interchanges, and overpasses with a signed connector road.
