You've never wanted to spend a long weekend enjoying the relaxing ambiance of US Route 250?

It pretty much ends at Cedar Point???

But it's fun to learn about the mysteries of US 250, including where exactly it ends in Richmond, VA. ;)

This is a great usage of secondary control cities that should be followed in areas with limitations on sign area.  The main cities are on the main signs and secondary cities can be either on supplemental signage or as posted there, on the third sign of the overhead, in smaller font to cover all secondary cities.

Signs like that tend to be fairly common in hotel parking lots and other commercial parking lots, I've noticed.
It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

what do these colored routes even mean?

Those are driving routes for viewing the many covered bridges that are common in that county. Each route covers a different section of Parke County with Rockville serving as the center point, so all the routes meet there.

There is some "We have US 550 at home" energy.

I haven't been there, but US 250 does get some props:

I don't know about Ohio, but for the most part in West Virginia, US 250 is a horror show. It's a torturous drive from Moundsville to Fairmont. From Fairmont to Elkins, it's not all that bad. It's actually quite scenic from Elkins to the Virginia state line.
Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.
