My shortcut to shunpiking as much of the Turnpike as I can is now a lot less stressful.

"The R3"?

The SEPTA West Trenton Line?  Think R3 was the old line name.

Ah yes, the R1 thru 3 and R5 thru 8 (SEPTA never used R4).  IIRC the R3 on the ex-Pennsy RR/Penn Central side of the system went out to West Chester before it was cut back to Elwyn.

I hardly referred to the SEPTA Regional Rail lines as "the R[number]", but rather by their destinations.  I don't really miss the "R" labeling.  But that's a topic for AARoads' Mass Transit board.

I saw that someone on Facebook posted on oe of those articles that get facts wrong, that the lack of interchange between PA 378 and I-78 near Bethlehem was done because a powerful municipal politician requested that PennDOT not create such an exchange.

Does anyone know if that statement is true? After all it seems odd that a major N-S roadway has no connection to a major E- W freeway especially that I-78 is not a turnpike needing limited interchanges.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

Given the angle Interstate 78 was constructed over PA 378, it likely would have been difficult to construct an interchange there.

IMO I'm glad they limited interchanges along I-78.  It reduces sprawl along the corridor.

Keeping one in both Easton and Bethlehem was a good idea.  Allentown only has many because that part of I-78 was preexisting PA 309 established with many ramps already.

Even in NJ not connecting I-78 to Carpentersville Road or Route 519 was a great move.

Unlike US 22, which is a mess

The US 11 NB/US 15 NB sign at I-81 SB has finally been replaced with a monotube.

Maybe it's just the angle of the pic, but it looks like it's leaning a bit.
