Whoa!  That's not very far north.
I'm going to try to visit KC sometime within the next year (and I will be at next year's Wichita road meet!), so that will hopefully change soon.

You want something that isn't very far? I've never driven any car east of Sterling, CO

For me it's as follows:
North: Place du Fer at Cheval, Toulouse, department no. 31 (Haute Garonne), France; 43.5923
South: Guadix, province of Granada, Spain; 37.3033
East: Exit 24 of A620, Toulouse, department no. 31 (Haute Garonne), France; 1.4410
West: Parking lot of the Ibis hotels at Oviedo, Asturias, Spain; -5.8493

All done with my own (family) car, however none of them are connected to home on roads I've driven (as I wasn't the only driver in all those trips). And yes, I've never driven to e.g. Barcelona (yet).

In fact it's actually further South than the Southernmost point I've ever driven to.

Quote from: Quillz on September 12, 2025, 05:32:05 PMI know people who have never left their home town. One guy I know has never traveled more than 3 hours away from where he lives. He's almost 40.

Generally, though, that's not the type of person who has been out of the country.  |CoreySamson| recently shared a report of his church trip to Mexico, but he hasn't been north of Joplin.  That's what I find unusual.  But I suppose age probably plays a big role in that.

Kansas City is underrated as a vacation destination.  Good food, good museums, pro sports, casinos.  Certainly not Chicago level but, if you run out of things to do, then you're doing it wrong.  Probably the only thing missing is a real riverfront entertainment area.  The museums are where it's really at:  especially the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and the WWI Museum.  If you're interested in church history (and I know you are), there's also the Spurgeon Center and library.  Plus a few roadgeeking opportunities, including (1) the bridge to nowhere and (2) what used to be the tunnel to nowhere but now goes somewhere.

And I look forward to seeing you here in Wichita next year.

Boy, the braided ramp that tunnel's part of has got to be one of the longest there is. Looks like 2.3 miles.

Hey, if anyone at the Wichita meet wants to attend my church on Sunday morning, I could introduce you to the guy who designed that 87th Street bridge over I-35 (assuming he's in town that week).  He was part of the last meet here, but that was a dozen years ago.

(Coordinates were determined by coarse eyeballing with Google Maps)

Farthest I has driven my own car (contiguous network from my house is the same):
North:  Latitude = 45.56    near Hawkesbury ON (actually junction of routes 17 and 417)
South:  Latitude = 27.94    Tampa FL
East:  Longitude = -68.20    Bar Harbor ME
West:  Longitude = -89.75    Slidell LA

Farthest I has driven any car (e.g. personal or rental):
North:  Latitude = 66.05    Húsavik, Iceland
South:  Latitude = 27.58    Rubonia FL
East:  Longitude =  -13.99    Breiðdalsvík, Iceland
West:  Longitude = -122.48    San Francisco CA

Other personal extremes:
North:  Latitude = 66.55    Arctic Circle(*) near Grímsey, Iceland (by plane and by foot)
South:  Latitude = 24.55    Key West FL (was passenger in car)

(*) At least to where the marker was placed.  Apparently the Arctic Circle tends to drift as the Earth wobbles

Farthest I've driven in each direction from home:

North: Entrance to Split Rock Lighthouse off of MN 61
South: Intersection of Alt US 41 and TN 76 in Clarksville, TN
East: Can't pinpoint an exact location, but it is either in Cleveland, OH, or its suburbs
West: US 6/34 and Nobes St. in Holdrege, NE (where the Runza restaurant is)

The only direction that's different for any driving is East, as I drove in Baltimore when my friend and I went from DC to Baltimore for the Orioles game I attended.
MORE FUN THAN HUMANLY THOUGHT POSSIBLE

I've edited my original post as in a major brainfart I forgot I had driven further South on one trip than I thought.
