I get annoyed by people that can't follow the rules of the road. Like tonight, with the northbound Zilwaukee Bridge being closed all traffic is forced to exit onto and use NB I-675 you can do the curve there at 70 mph easily so I'm in the right lane behind a car and there is another car with a car behind them in the lane next to me, we're doing about 57 mph and both the lead drivers in both lanes decide to ride side by side next to each other poking along and not moving any faster than they were on the curve until we got to almost the 2 mile marker where I finally got a chance to get around both of them. But that's ridiculous and makes me drive even faster because I'm annoyed at an idiot that can't speed up on an Interstate highway. And this with all northbound traffic through the area being forced to use that one highway with two lanes in each direction. I can't wait until the Zilwaukee Bridge reopens holy shit.

And one doesn't actually know the answer in the moment until it's too late.

I've been pondering whether I agree with this. I think the things I mentioned (left blinker usage, horn usage, I'd also add four way flasher usage in certain circumstances) are better described as acting in the public interest to increase awareness than they are confrontational. Confrontation, in my view, involves the use or attempted use of force to get another driver to change their behavior - things like cutting someone off, brake checking, etc. And it's usually pretty clear beforehand whether a particular action falls on the "confrontation" side of the line or not.

I would describe myself as a nonchalant, lawful neutral driver (using this alignment chart). I tend to follow the rules of the road pretty closely, such as nearly always following the speed limit, never texting while driving, and always coming to a complete stop at stop signs. I would describe myself as a 75th percentile defensive driver as well. But simultaneously, I'm pretty calm and I don't tend to worry that much about the behavior of other drivers. I navigate pretty well and so don't really have to worry about directions that much. Idiotic drivers elicit incredulous laughs out of me instead of rage.
