It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

Been listening a lot to the new album by the band Lord Huron "The cosmic selector volume one."  I have really grown to love this band a lot

Quote from: kurumi on April 18, 2025, 02:54:43 PMWhen I was small, I preferred minor key hymns over major, so Lent was peak hymn season. (hmmm, I might still be small)

I've always been attracted to "dark" music, so I've been partial to minor keys. More recently, I have started to listen to some music written in major keys, which has been a revelation. A well-written key change from a major to a minor key can be very powerful. I've been trying to incorporate it into some of my writing, but I don't know if I'm talented enough to write something in a major key that retains some darkness.

Periphery - Silhouette. A heavy rock/metal band playing a pure pop song. The difference is that this song actually has key changes, something the majority of modern throw away pop lacks.

This band's career track is Ministry in reverse.

They don't have very many "pop" songs. Most of their stuff is pretty heavy.

Spencer Sotelo from Periphery side project. Fantastic synth pop band.

A song that took me an entire month finding it after hearing it from the bus driver's radio speakers, even though I had heard it shortly before in Happy Gilmore 2. Juke Box Hero by Foreigner:

How was MJF in Happy Gilmore II? He's a fantastic wrestler. He's hilarious and the best heel in the business.

He was pretty good. I should really rewatch the movie... speaking of, if I had done just that, it wouldn't have taken me this long finding the damn song.

Now, every time you're looking for a song, you'll have to rewatch Happy Gilmore 2...just in case.

Gentle Giant is not for everyone; if you're not into prog, you probably won't like this one.

It starts off with a 7/4 riff, then brings in the vocals in 6/4, and drums in (I think) 4/4. This would be fun but challenging to perform. And then (this takes some stones), they kill the song's momentum in the middle, before bringing the 6/4-7/4 back at the end. Anyway, here it is:

I had put on Symphony No. 9 in E Minor (the New World Symphony) by Antonín Dvořák.

But the album I chose on Amazon Music also includes some other works, so I'm currently listening to Má vlast by Bedřich Smetana.
