The 10 minutes of OT for the past several seasons has made me seriously wonder why there haven't been more regular season draws. YES, IMHO, a draw is a very legitimate result, just like it is in fútbol.  In the NFL, in the regular season, a draw counts in the standings as half of a win and half of a loss (in most fútbol federations, a draw counts in the standings as a third of a win).

Also, as a point of clarification, a defensive score by the first team on defense in overtime still ends the game, right?

As a Pats fan Mac Jones is good with a good team around him and with good coaching, like in 2021. He's not going to carry a team but he's solid in the right situation.

Does anyone understand the first penalty in WAS–LAC?

Washington kicked off. The Chargers downed it in the end zone. Ball goes out to 35.

Except there was a flag. They announced an illegal formation on the receiving team (the Chargers). The ref then said Los Angeles chose to replay the kickoff.

Why should the Chargers get to choose? Shouldn't the unpenalized team get the choice?
"You know, you never have a guaranteed spot until you have a spot guaranteed."
—Olaf Kolzig, as quoted in the Washington Times on March 28, 2003,
commenting on the Capitals clinching a playoff spot.

"That sounded stupid, didn't it?"
—Kolzig, to the same reporter a few seconds later.

Ref likely misspoke on either who the penalty was on or who chose to replay the kickoff.

Eagles take first loss of the year and first loss since December last year vs the Broncos, blowing a 17-3 lead.

By my count 11 teams had a pretty catastrophic week 5, beyond just run-of-the-mill losing.

Browns (Baker plays incredible)
Jets (got blown out and Darnold plays incredible)
Panthers (Baker and Darnold play incredible)
Giants (lost to 0-4 Saints)
Raiders (lost 40-6)
Dolphins (lost to the Panthers)
Ravens (lost 44-10)
Eagles (blew 14-point 4th quarter lead)
Cardinals (blew 18-point lead and lost to the TITANS)
Bengals (more or less blown out again)
Chargers (more or less blown out)

^^ Do you mean Seahawks instead of Panthers, who won?

Max Rockatansky

I really don't get what the Browns were thinking with giving up on Baker Mayfield so early.

The Cardinals had probably the worst choke I have ever seen in NFL history. From the ball dropping to the interception fumble touchdown what the heck was that.

No I mean the Panthers. A week 5 win over a terrible team pales in comparison to the QBs they ran out of town both looking like the reincarnation of Brady vs. Manning.

I think you might be the lone person on the forum that is happy about the Patriots not being completely awful.

There are quite a few other Massachusetts users on the forum. And hey, it's been 6 full years since we've won a Super Bowl.

Meh, my dad was 7 when the Lions last won an NFL championship (1957).  Nobody expect Patroits fans feels pity for how the post Tom Brady era has been.

He tried to play through an injury and his performance tailed off. Then the owner got involved and decided to through a big contract at a pure crap of a human being in Watson.

This is why certain franchises never succeed.

Why the hell would someone, not anywhere near where he lives or frequents, tell some guy he can't park somewhere? Have to be pretty drunk to think like that.

And make up that he wasn't allowed to go into the hotel to clean the grease traps or whatever it was.

Millions of dollars and a cushy broadcasting job and your fighting with randos on the street. What a way to ruin your career.

And this wasn't even a fight. It was just a straight up assault on a random person.
