I'm surprised Cashman is still there. The Yankees haven't really done shit in a long time and he's been their General Manager for damn near 30 years. Randy Levine same thing, been there a long time. I bet there are Yankees fans that couldn't tell you who the GM was before Cashman and I happen to know who it was.

They were in the World Series last year.
Yeah and lost, if George Steinbrenner was still around he'd be gone by now, so would Boone.

I think you're making my point.

Oh no that poor Phillies pitcher is gonna have nightmares. Dodgers advance, Cubs force game 5.

Can't wait for the Cubs' most important postseason game since Game 7 of the 2016 World Series (and BTW, the only thing I hate about that night is that it had to be played in Cleveland). I'd love to see them advance and take on the Dodgers in the NLCS!
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

Yes, despite the Cubs having the much better record Cleveland got HFA as the AL won the all star game. Glad they scrapped that rule.

That was one heluva game.  Somebody had to finally run out of gas, and it was the Tigers.  They have nothing to hang their heads about.

I'm rooting for the Mariners in the ALCS on the grounds that they're the last remaining MLB team without a pennant.

Sure they do.  The Tigers needed bats in the lineup and they didn't do anything to address it during the trade deadline.  It cost them in the second half of the season with the division and last night.

IIRC, this is only the second time that an LCS is a matchup between expansion teams that debuted in the same year (the first being the '86 NLCS between the Mets and Astros, whose first year was '62); both ALCS participants have been around since '77 (Mariners and Blue Jays).

(Correct me if I'm wrong)

If this season was done like seasons from 1968 and earlier, it would have been the Yankees v the Bluejays (both 94-68) in  short series for the rights to play v. the Brewers (97-65) in the World Series.

That would've been an exciting tiebreaker series. It kinda sucks that the Wild Card Series eliminated tiebreaker elimination games. Those were exciting to watch for me.

I watched a lot of the Tigers this year and could see that they were missing bats in the lineup. They don't have one hitter in that lineup that you can count on to get a timely hit. Riley Greene can hit home runs, but he also strikes out a lot, in fact he is the first player in Tigers history to strike out 200 times in a season. Baez doesn't draw enough walks and swings at sliders four feet out of the strike zone. Speaking of Baez that was a stupid signing, they said they saw the red flags with him before they signed him then turned around and signed him anyway. They have everything to hang their heads about; they had a 15-game lead in the division and blew it. Oh and they can't seem to beat Cleveland, yeah they beat them in the Wild Card series this year but have only won the season series against Cleveland once since 2016 (in 2023).
