BEGIN NORTH MD 223 in Accokeek in P.G. County. This one has a practical purpose because SHA has a habit of ending state routes in unusual spots, and MD 223 not only becomes a county road south of the intersection where this sign is, but the road it intersects is also a county road.

From the land of red, white, yellow and black.

ADOT never uses BEGIN plaques, so I think this one and the one at the other end of US 191 Temp are the only ones I've seen in Arizona.

Why are the top two plaques mounted sideways?
Wait, it's all Ohio? Always has been.

Looks like this was previously posted several years ago, but I was too excited about making it here to not share. Doesn't look like much has changed over the years, other than the tree filling in and the zero milepost getting replaced?

And the beginning of the southernmost segment of FL A1A nearby:

"Now, what if da Bearss were to enter the Indianapolis 5-hunnert?"
"How would they compete?"
"Let's say they rode together in a big buss."
"Is Ditka driving?"
"Of course!"
"Then I like da Bear buss."
"DA BEARSSS BUSSSS"

Because they never use them.

US 191 Temp is a somewhat permanent temporary situation because they keep having to move the highway due to the continued expansion of the Morenci Mine, so I assume they're sideways because they don't want to potentially confuse drivers with the technical temporary designation. It's basically just regular US 191 with special signs, mile markers that don't match up with the permanent sections, and a potentially different alignment if you come back in several years.  :-D
