Quote from: roadman65 on October 26, 2025, 02:30:54 PMIt seems NYC prefers the octagonal pole over the standard round poles, but to me it seems to me that a pole is a pole.
For what it's worth, some of the new traffic signal poles at JFK airport are round.  Though to be fair, the signals installed some 30+ years ago were not NYC standard either; they resembled the double mast arms long found in New Jersey.

The NY-NJ Port Authority which runs the three New York area major airports has traditionally used New Jersey style traffic lights and mast-arms at all three airports including JFK and LaGuardia, both located in Queens. I've always thought they were good installations, a little better than NYC's traditional traffic lights from the 1960's.
