Restriction: West Northampton Street will be closed and detoured. Traffic will be detoured on Creek Road, North Chestnut Street and West Main Street. The closure is for the Route 248 realignment project that began in September 2024 and is anticipated to be complete in July 2027. The project includes the realignment of Route 248 onto Northampton Street, reconstruction of Northampton Street, replacement of the bridge that carries Northampton Street over Monocacy Creek, and other miscellaneous construction. The project is from approximately 215 feet west of Siegfried Street to just east of Route 987.

QuoteThe proposed project entails roadway and streetscape improvements along Larry Holmes Drive in the City of Easton, Pennsylvania. The project area extends from approximately 400 feet south of Northampton Street near Scott Park to approximately 120 feet north of Church Street near Riverside Park, for a total length of approximately 800 feet. Planned improvements include lane reconfiguration and pedestrian safety enhancements. These upgrades aim to improve pedestrian safety, support multimodal access, and enhance the functionality and aesthetics of this key riverfront corridor.

The project includes the following key features:

Lane Reconfiguration and Restriping: The removal of the existing dedicated northbound right-turn lane and southbound left-turn lane at Northampton Street to accommodate curb extensions along the east side of Larry Holmes Drive.

Curb Extensions (Bump-Outs): Installation of curb bump-outs along the east side of Larry Holmes Drive at the Northampton Street Bridge (north and south approaches) and at Church Street to enhance pedestrian safety by reducing crossing distances and improving sightlines.
