I'd rather just check out the entry list for any race back with Bill Sr and Jr were running things.  Long list of car owners who made their entire living from owning race teams.

Absolutely gutted after hearing about this. Greg Biffle - a popular NASCAR driver with 19 career Cup Series wins - as well as his wife Cristina and his kids Emma and Ryder, were killed when Biffle's Cessna Citation 550 jet crashed shortly after takeoff from Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina. Biffle was 55.

Biffle and his family's presence on the plane was confirmed by longtime friend Garrett Mitchell, better known as YouTuber Cleetus McFarland, who has worked with Biffle on a number of occasions, including hurricane relief following Helene, Milton, and Melissa. Biffle was on his way to Florida for an event Cleetus was hosting at the speedway he owns.

That's an odd argument to make considering motorsports isn't exactly the safest activity to engage in.

But yeah, Davey Allison springs to mind and the fatal helicopter crash in 1993.

Maybe so, but I'd rather die in a car crash than in an airplane crash.
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

How you figure a fatal car crash is better?

"The Chase" is back. No more elimination rounds in the playoffs. Now it's just the top 16 drivers accumulating points over the final 10 races.

Autobids to the playoff for wins have been eliminated but winning does now pay 15 more points so the incentive to win is still there. The regular season champ does also get a 25 point head start over the second place driver, down to 100 points over the 16th place driver.

The goal is to still have the championship come down to the final race but have it less dependent on luck in that race.

The idiotic chase was a bad idea back then, still is.  The idiotic variants of it over the years have been more or less stupid, but none have worked.

EVERYONE wants a season long championship, NASCAR doesn't listen.

Under the old format, how many times did a driver outside the top 10 in points with 10 races to go win the championship? I'm guessing never.

This is an improvement, but they still haven't gotten rid of stage racing.

Stage racing kills the flow of a race. Drivers about to be put a lap down get saved by an arbitrary caution. Gone are the days when you'd have 200+ lap green flag runs at short tracks that left only a handful of cars on the lead lap.

Clash has been postponed 3 times because of snow in the Piedmont Triad, where the venue is. Great start to the season.

In California this year it is high and dry.  It probably would have been a super nice night to have the Clash at the Coliseum.

That finish got wild with the two large wrecks on the final laps of the Daytona 500.  Reddick is probably one of the few cars I don't recall being caught up in a wreck.

MJ getting a trophy after winning the lawsuit is my favorite part of Reddick winning.

Sure looked like it might be the 23 who got the win for most of the last half of the race.

I'm hoping it is.  I find them hard to root against after the lawsuit and exposing all that NASCAR dirty laundry.  To that end as a Pistons fan it does feel weird to be pulling for Michael Jordan.

Seeing that the Bulls will extend their championship drought to 28 years, I'm now hoping that MJ does well as a NASCAR team owner, and it certainly feels good to see one of his drivers win the Daytona 500.

Two in a row for 23XI, though it should have been Bubba until he screwed up on the final restart.

If they continue this kind of dominance, I could see Denny switching from JGR to his own team next season.
